Hey im upgrading my bulbs and all I see are 3157's and 3156's. The manual calls for 3057 for the reverse lights.

I thought the 3056 was a single filliment and 3057 a double. Does the reverse light (3057) use both filliments.

I swaped in PIAA 3157 bulbs for my park/turn bulbs but it orignally called for a 4157 whish is the same except the color.

Here's the company Im using, I looking at the 18 LED 3157's

will the 3157 work for a 3057 bulb

Thanks

did a little google searching and came across on many lighting sites more or less this...

1156 = 1073 = 7506 bulbs

1157 = 1034 = 2057 bulbs

3157 = 3057 = 3457 bulbs

3156 = 3056 bulbs

3157 LED Bulbs:

Replaces all 3056, 3156, 3356, 3456 and 3457 bulbs. Replaces all 3057, 3157 and 3357 bulbs EXCEPT those requiring the 3157-XXCK series bulbs.

Manufactory part no: 3057, 3157, 3357, 3757, 4057, 4157, and P27/7W

i think it should work, but if in doubt still, but a cheap incandecent bulb from parts house and see if it works. if it does, the led will work too...

The only bad thing about the LED bulbs is they might not work correctly.

They dont draw enough power and you may have to use a resistor on the line.

I replaced them on my 2000 and they caused the flasher to flash quicker.

Maybe they have changed them.

You will get the lamp out indicator coming on when you use the LED's , most companys are supplying resistors to add in the line.

I dont think high flash rate of lamp out will be a problem

1. I want it for better reverse lights

2. There is 20 LED's which draw more than just 1 or 3.

3. I will try my reverse bulbs in the parking lamp to see how it looks before I order thoes up.

Thanks

Dan I can't help you with the bulbs, but I just wanted to say, I'm glad to see you got another truck!

How is your recovery going?

Everything's going great. I go to PT 3 times a week and I lost the cane 2 weeks ago. I'm still out of work but Im looking for a new carrier. Leaning towards an apprentice diesel mechanic for union pacific rail road, or anything else exciting... no desk jobs.

I just did this (led rev) Works for the rev lights w/o lamp out (3157) Does not work for any other lights, just blew the fuse everytime. I had to send those back. I was however told that the 4157 were higher wattage, used as a GM fog bulb???? Nice thing about the LED is more spot light like light, works good with aux. rev lights.

just a note, the reverse lights do not set off the lamp out indicator. .

i have ½ led tail lights [my stock stop & turn positions are now brake (2x in parallel), and reverse is turn now] and i have led's in the stock brake light location wired in parallel with the stock turn signal location using a standard bulb. 2 led lamps in parallel still set off the lamp out indicator and actually blinked slightly when the ecm was pulsing the 2vdc it uses to detect the lamps. the only load i have on the stock reverse lamp wires is the coil power feed for the relay. .
