I would still like to know what was clunking and why was all that black smoke comming out with almost no throttle, when they were trying to park it. Was it the engine getting ready to lock up, due to no cooling? Was it a broken turbo? I also want to know if the head was o-ringed.

I think the clunking was a broken turbo, but not sure. The head was definately not o-ringed, all the aftermarekt stuff was bolted onto that 03 HPCR. I think I thought I heard that they studded the head, but not sure on that either. I am for certain the head was not removed for o-rings. They probably did tear it all apart after the event due to the internal damage that possibly occured.

I'd be curious to get confirmation on what time the truck ran as well. If it ran an 11. 0?, that is a big deal for the 3rd gen guys. But I wonder, It just didn't strike me as an 11. 0? pass, but I hope I'm wrong, that would be great if it did. Wonder what the mph was?

Craig

On edit, I see on the write up on the TDR home page that it is claimed to have ran 11. 2 @124 mph. Thats moving. As said before, I wonder how they know when they don't use the lights on Pinks? Nice job by the Bully Dog guys either way.

If you look at the trap speed, and figure that truck weighs about 5500 pounds or so, that calculates to about 711 HP, which is not out orf th realm of possibility for twins and a gob of spray. The 60 must have been awful to have only gotten an 11. 22... ... .

711 is nothing with twins--heck i've seen over 800hp put down with a single recently :-laf :-laf

My bad, it was 815hp and about 1400ft. lbs. Saw it over on a competition post on Diesel Truck Resource. I swear I thought I saw somewhere else it said it was around 832, but 815 is pretty close too. :)

Next time you watch the final round. . about the time the BD truck crosses the finish line. . there is flash from under the truck. . just behind the front right wheel... Looked like a turbo...

They toasted a motor. And no this is no speculation on my part.

After the race one of the "Team Members" called me and told me of the whole day and what the outcomes were.

They did burn up the motor.

The truck was running

BD-Power Twin Turbos

Bully Dog Electronics

Injectors

Nitrous

Snow Water Meth

Head Studs

Hawk Torqueflite Specialties transmission

(And probably more. But, this is all they told)

They blew the radiator on the first pass.

Then proceeded to melt the motor down each pass afterward.

Unless I get an okay from them I can't release the precise details. That is about all I can allow without permission.

Later,

Wes

Considering how hard they were running w/o coolant a blown motor is testimony to it's STRENGTH! What was that... 3 runs w/o coolant at that power level! Totally rockin'!

I saw the episide on the "Fuel" station.

I also heard the chevy guy was playing games at the light hoping to overheat and blow them up before the race...

He deserved to loose.

Good represent there BullyDog!
