I have noticed that if I run my BDDL on Extreme I lose a ton of low and midrange power, but I seem to gain alot of top end power 2700-3200 RPMs. I know that if I run the truck on performanec w\ my edge I will see around 40PSI, on the extreme with the edge I will see 35-37LBS. It does feel stonger from 2700-3200, but it runs less boost and has very little low end. Has anyone else with an 05 experienced this?

Mine sucked on extreme. It did have something going on in the higher rpms but was terrible down low. I sent it back. I don't like playing games with software reflash fixes... shipping and the rest.

I suspect that you are running out of fuel. I have an '04 and the stock lift pump would not keep up with mild enhancement. I'm testing the BD downloader, TST PMCR and several other boxes, it's easy to run out of fuel with the stock system.

We build the AirDog fuel systems and though I've have not (as of yet) removed the lift pump from the tank on an '05 but from the fuel pressure readings and from the reported sucess from AirDog installs, the '05 lift pump is low capacity. Have you checked fuel pressure?

Larry

TST and at levels under 6 total (torque and hp) I don't think there is any issue with fuel supply at all. But it does like to spin the TC clutch when you really tromp on it and it's locked. This site is full of salesman. The Bullydog imho is junk. I bought it based on all the chearleaders here.

Right now the TST is THE bomb for 3rd gens. I love it.

Well... ... ... it doesn't cost much to check fuel pressure. Maybe it's easier to blame a product then to solve your problems. I doubt if too many folks have experience with the DL for an '05, I don't. But I have pressure checked a lot systems, done quite a number of installs and gotton feedback from far more customers then post here after they install their fuel system. I've seen stock lift pump pressures below 2 psi (some 0 psi) with 3rd Gen's/TST PMCR on level 3 and recorded negative pressure or vacumn on levels 2-4 when the TST is stacked with a pressure box. Anyone that has much experience with a common rail system knows what happens when you cavitate the CP3 and what rpm it affects. FWIW, just trying to help.

I agree with Larry on the fuel pressure situation. Just a simple pressure box (EZ style) in most trucks will pull the FP to near 0psi. This could definitely be the cause for lower power output, too.

The Duramax uses the same high pressure pump and NO lift pump and has NO pressure. It is designed to suck fuel from the tank. It can handle low pressures without damage.

I don't argue that having plenty of available pressure is a good thing. It's proven in high hp applications but i don't believe you have a performance problem at the lower setting. My TST blows the POS BUllydog downloader away, on the low settings. NOt to mention having reliable EGT and boost readings.

The problem with the fuel system is the lift pump. It can't keep up with the demand the CP3 is trying to attain. With the duramax, this is not an issue because there is no lift pump to hold up the flow. The problem has a lot more to do with flow to the CP3 and not pressure. The stock lift pump is NOT able to flow enough fuel to support the higher HP levels of the TST and probably the BDDL. To ensure you have enough flow, add a pusher pump that replaces the stock lift pump.

Understood. I believe staying under 400 RWHP should not be a problem Is that reasonable?

Sounds like a fueling problem. I had the Edge EZ set to 4 and the pup at extreme, lifted the front end off the ground to the point of losing steering. Scared the crap out of me the first time that happened! :D Takes off like a raped ape in the extreme mode. Now the performance mode is another story, feels like I am just running the Edge at launch, pup doesn't kick in until I am moving. Your extreme setting sounds like my performance setting. I think it is a fuel delivery problem.

I have the AirDog installed, at extreme it held a steady 15psi at wot, 17 psi at idle, turbo at 40-45+ psi at wot. EGT's would hit 1400+ real quick at wot, egt's hovered around 750-800 cruising, but fuel pressure has never dropped below 15psi. Like I said, your extreme mode sounds like my performance mode. Lack of fuel?

Just my . 02
