Sounds good, interesting to see how it achieves those numbers if there is no presure increase, I also wonder if you can use it on more than one truck, obvously not at the same time, but if you wanted to have someone try it. I think some of the Orb stuff gets a serial number from the ECM and then only works with that ECM from that point forwad.

What do you mean? Are you saying that you have to put the stock settings back on in order to use the downloader on the other truck?

I am trying to understand how it works. My thought is that it can be plugged in the port under the steering wheel and download the program onto the ECM and test it out with the readings. Then you can unplug it and put it away while the same program is still in the ECM.

If something happens, I can plug it back in and put the stock settings back on. Is that right? What about the timestamp thing on ECM that I read about?

correct. ya have to return truck# 1 back to stock program b4 ya can use downloader on truck #2

ya plug in,install download on ecm, then put the downloader into your toolbox for safe keeping with one of the performance downloads in the ecm and the stock program in the downloader. if ya need to download stock program back onto ecm for any reason repeat process

Awful quiet out there... I thought there'd be a lot of discussion now that the downloader has been formally announced.

Can any of the beta testers post any of their feelings/observations?

What the best selection for MPGs?

Tomeygun, thanks for the headsup. :)

its 30 days money back gaurantee. So I guess it can't hurt to try it out see if it fits your needs? If you don't like it, send it back.

That is what is getting me interested in it. I am more for gas mileage than power.

I would be a good idea to return back to stock setting before going to the dealer. If they apply a flash like the one for milage and white smoke, it will hose up the Bully Dog program. When you try to restore to stock settings, you will get the old stock program that was saved in the Power Pup. Then you take your truck back to the dealer to get the new flash and it shows that it was already done on your truck and DC tells you it can't be done.

The timestamp will probably be saved on the Power Pup and when you restore to stock it will be there.

yes it would be good idea to put the truck back to stock before taking it to dealer. On just about everything to be safe!

as to the timestamp,,,,,,,,,none. it would show how many times ya have started the truck since ya have programed the ecm. same as if ya got a download from the dealer it wld show how many starts since that event or any other event the ecm can record.

as to rail pressure,,,,,,,,,,, on the tow setting no increase. on the performance program a little increase. on the extreme program a little more increase which equals to approx 50hp addition that relies on the added rail pressure. a very safe amount that in combination helps keep the egt cool.

cant wait to hook up the 5er and tow test the downloader in a few days. it is supposed to be a cool running setup even towing with the race program acording to one who has tried that position. cant wait to try it myself with the trailr.

Oo.

I called Bullydog today and talked to a guy named Justin. My question was that if you reload the factory ECM settings before taking the truck in for warranty work would it leave a trail, he said it would not and that the dealer would have no way of knowing. He was a tech, not a salesman.

Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Mvaden,

Muddymess is correct. According to one of the owners of Bullydog, the only thing that the dealers can see is how many times it has been started since a reflash/reprogram. If you are worried about it just start your truck a bunch of times after downloading/experimenting and all is good. Keep in mind that this is only an issue if they have reason to go look for this info. I. E. standard service or repair not related to a motor problem is not an issue. However remember the old moto that any respected CTD bomber has too own is "you are your own warrantee station"

Since the heat this downloader produces is supposted to be less than a box, motor/turbo failures should be very minimal.

I am very excited to see how this works in a few days. I plan on downloading the hottest program and using my Bullydog Outlook monitor to turn down the power when required.

I will also report on rail pressure after downloading as the Outlook does that as well.

So I take it that this new programmer is much like the Superchip units that have available for the 7. 3/6. 0 PSDs for a few years. As for the different settings, can you only "load" 1 setting at a time, like the Superchip I had on an '02 PSD? Basically, you can't select the different setting "on-the-fly"?

Diesel Dan,

Thanks for the info on the Bullydog, it sounds great. I look forward to reading about your results with the Power Pup, I guess you're the guinea on this one.

Again, Thanks
