I installed the pup with the Outlook Monitor, on the performance setting. The truck runs great, however it blows a lot of black smoke under hard acceleration. My exhaust temperature goes to 1050 when the outlook monitor tries to defuel the truck it doesn't go down until I let off the throttle. I don't think that the outlook monitor is doing its job. Fuel milage has gone down two mpg. But I expected that and I can live with that. But the purpose of the Outlook monitor is so you can set the truck back to stock from inside the cab with the settings on the monitor. When I change the settings on the monitor back to 0 it doesn't seem to make any difference on the truck. I installed the pyro 4 inches after the turbo and bully dog told me that was fine and it should defuel the truck(to lower the eg temp at around 1050. I still have a few days left to send back the pup and monitor if I am not happy,

Can anyone give me any suggestions or help.

2004. 5 Stock except for afe progaurd 7 and the pup with outlook monitor

When I first got mine, same thing happened. As for black smoke, that's diesel dollars spewing into the air. Normal without upgraded turbo.

Make sure Outlook is hooked up correctly & plug on back tight. It's a poor designed clip. I tied wire to pedestal.

Also, download back to stock, follow instructions, and then reload extreme with outlook setting on 100%.

By the way, changing outlook to 0 will not change to stock. What the joystick does (I'm told) is alter TPS signal as though you were light on go pedal.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the info. I talked to Bully Dog today and he had me run the truck with the monitor to test the 0-50 time. With it set on the 90 hp mode and the outlook at 100 % it ran 0-50 in 8. 16 seconds. I set the outlook to 0% and it ran 0-50 in 8. 16 seconds no change. I then downloaded it back to stock with the outlook at 100% and it took 9. 9 seconds. So the programmer works. I then called Bully Dog back and he is going to send me a new outlook monitor to try. After I install it and test it I will post the results.

I don't want to start the pre/post EGT war but if your hitting 1050* post your WAY hotter than you want to be! I've run them both pre and post and on a hard run 1050* post can be as much as 1500* pre. BE CAREFUL!

Thanks for the reply. Man there are many opinions. The guy at Bully Dog told me 1050 was no problem at all. A friend with a Duramax has his hooked up post and he runs 1100 quite regurlary and no problem. He also runs 4 Dump trucks with post hookups and he says they run over 1200 and still has no problem. I do appreciate your reply and I will definately keep a eye on it. If the outlook monitor doesn't work as I have been told that it would, I think that I will send it back for a refund and return the truck to stock. The only bad thing about that is after having all that performance, it will be hard to live with the truck stock.

Thanks

You can run BD DL'er without Outlook, just don't tow above Tow mode.

Better yet, just get another PYRO.
