My buddy is up in Oregon right now on leave. He's got a friend that runs a diesel shop and was telling him about the BD transmissions.

I didn't know BD even builds transmissions? My buddy was telling me they offer a lifetime warranty, if anything breaks, they will fix it for free?? About $4000 for torque convertor and trans is what he was quoted.

Does that sound right? I looked on the BD webpage and I don't see transmissions on there.

BD diesel has some great products. They would be one of my recommendations depending on what the overall plan is with the truck.

I got my full BD Diesel upgrade in Boise for about $2500. 00. Its 3 yr unlimited warranty. The mechanic said he has done on guys truck every year since it was installed and BD has honored the warranty. This guy is burning it up when he gets stuck in mud bogs. I don't have the phone number but the mechanic is Doug at Diesel Injection Service in Boise Idaho.

I think I would tell your friend to do a lot of research before taking the plunge on ANY auto trans! I know I've read some pretty significant reports on BD transmissions. DO SOME RESEARCH! Just my humble opinion.

See my signature for my choice. Good luck.

Clay :D

I called him back and it's indeed BD.

He was telling me they have a lifetime warranty for an extra charge, he believes it was $500.

Nate-Hope you are well. As for the trans you can see my choice - still happy and trouble free. Since I already had a DD-Mag Hy-Tech pan I got away for like $3200 on a complete overhaul - all labor included. That was early 05 I think. Shortly after I added the trans I added the F-1. 6 sticks and a Edge Comp - I turned almost 400 hp (just like the my trans builder said the combo would do) @ 06 Fall Brawl. I didn't do any billet pieces though (too much $$$$) so, according to the trans builder I'm kind of limited to about 450 hp maybe 500 hp (?) as long as I don't do any locked boosted 4wheel launches. So, suggest your friend does his home work and call the big companies I know Bill K. , Stefan and everyone @ DTT are happy to help folks match application to their needs. I bet the others ATS, BD etc should be pretty accomidating to answer questions too. From that point it's up to him who he likes. I suggest telling him to be realistic and don't convince himself like I did, "I'll be happy with 400 hp". Tell him that more is never enough . . . You know what I mean ;) :-laf

nate i recently had a full dtt rebuild done on my 47re it has a billet input shaft and dtt clutch kit. i saved about $2,000 buy reusing my old bd torque converter it has 175,000 miles on and it still works great . i think the total cost of the rebuild was about 4200. 00 with new valve body and labor
