Ok truck is a 05-06 Commonrail used for racing BAJA and the truck has 64mm turbo with intercooler, intake & exhaust manifold, Dryflow filter, Exhaust. With all of these products and for the conditions of the baja which box would work the best for reliability and performance? Need some good input on this as it will be used for 3 trucks. thanks

Well, I have used the Smarty and it is awesome, I doubt that the Bully Dog could be better, plus they have different downloads depending on whether or not your truck has stock injectors, or stock turbo, or aftermarket and in any combination in different power levels. They are also not detectable by the dealer, and let you adjust for tire size etc. , I didn't get one because on all the good power levels you get too much smoke, but who cares in Baja, you'll just leave a trail of black smoke on the course. My vote is for Smarty, but it can only be used on one truck at a time. Maybe someone local to you has one so you can try it out.

I have had both and on mine with II SPS66, turbo back high flow exhaust and AFE Stage II air intake the Smarty performs better. Both dyno and track. There are some newer products on the market now, but I don't think that any will do better than a Smarty with the proper version loaded.

BTW it will smoke until the turbo lites good, but it is controllable on the street and who cares off the street.

We have one that we are trying, but we just tried it on a stock truck haven't got to try it on the race trucks since they are not done yet. We also run the bullydog, but me myself like the smarty i think it has much quicker low end spool up then the bullydog, which is what you need for the terrain. So you can get different programs for the smarty for upgraded turbos and such? Trucks also have to be reliable for 1400 miles plus pre-running the course. The only thing is that the extra fuel (smoke) may get us hot quick for egt wise, but maybe not since the turbo will take care of that. The turbo should clear most of it in the number 4 or 5 setting on the smarty. Make go with it just depends on actually peoples reactions that use the smarty with similiar upgrades. Thanks

we will have the new beta 4. 4 releaded before the race. You won't have any worries of heat and smoke. This new software will be great!
