Could be. Mine is getting 20 to 21 average mostly on Dallas freeways. I have had a tank or 2 that toped 22 MPG on road trips. I do keep to the speed limit and use the cruise.

My worst tank was 19 MPG. I have a nice spread sheet that I have been keeping track of my mileage since I brought it home.

Those numbers make me want to cry! :{ :{ :{ :{

I have a Dually 4X4 QC. My average tank is around 12. 5. I can't wait til I install the 35" BFG's. Maybe I will see 10 mpg as an average!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't buy this thing for the mileage I bought it because it is a work horse. My 2001. 5 bested 19. 5 once. I do not know how anyone can claim such high numbers. My wife drives the 2WD truck to work and back 65 miles a day each way. She only sees 17. 5 mpg. It is amazing to me that there is such a wide varience in MPG with a similar truck.

I usually see around 21 with my SRW shorbed 4x2 on the highway running 75, but I don't use the cruise much and tend to tromp on it. Once I was pushing 80 and had a strong headwind and still got 19. 5. Best tank so far is 22. 8 doing an easy 73-75 on the level using the cruise.

My first tank was 15. 5 around town, now it's usually 18s in town. If I go gangbusters with lost of jackrabbit starts around town it'll drop to the low 17s.

Back to the clutch discussion, it is interesting how Muddy has Stage 1s, Bullybox and a truck with a lot of dead weight and his clutch is holding. Muddy doesn't hesitate to tromp on it either! And then someone else can't hold a lighter truck with stock injectors and the Bully box

Vaughn,

I have ran real hard in both trucks with the Bully box. No clutch slippage. I even put it on the higher level while towing my backhoe and gave it a good romping to check egts in 4th. 1350 max is all I could muster up. It was 115* outside when I did it too. Cant wait for some cool weather to run this box. Then the DDII's... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Can you say turbo?

You have any idea what that thing weights? And I know the 4x4 in my truck does not help the MPG any. Stupid new trucks and lack of selectable hubs!

So 4wd and my extra 1000 pounds gets me a loss of 5 mpg.

I still think my truck is either a POS or is still really tight. Even though it has 13,000 miles on it and 1000 heavy towing miles. (14,000 #'s) I have a box, intake and exhaust that is going on in the next few weeks and will hit the dyno for before and after numbers. I would love to see some of these trucks that are stock and in the 18-20 mpg range at the dyno just to see if they have more usable hp.

It HAS to be the trucks though, not driving style. I have tried every driving style and nothing seems to make more than . 5 mpg difference. It's just so weird that the MPG numbers are so all over the place.

I like my hubs the way they are.

DRW and extra friction and wind resistance. From what i undertand for every extra 100 lbs you will lose in around . 5mpg. Its pure physics with all other things being eqaul. This is the main reason i dont own dually.

We'll find out

Just ordered my bully dog box yesterday, and I'm going to the strip this weekend. I sure hope the clutch holds, my launching is kinda hard on clutches. But, it held real good with the ez Edge on 4. I roll on 315's so second gear is kinda high with 3. 73 gears. This is how it goes down. I drive around the water and put the truck in 4x4, back myself strait (this is also done to make sure it's all the way in 4x4), roll up to the staging lights, stage very swallow and put my right foot on the floor while I stick it in 2nd gear. The RPM's go up to almost 3500. When the lights come down and it's time to go, I let out the clutch just fast enough so that the motor don't bog and the rpms pull down to about 2000 rpms. I got a 2. 06 60' with the ez Edge this way. (15. 9 at 84)

Any Idea's on how I could improve? My wife says that I think I know everything, but what does she know. :D

You might go right through the clutch launching at 2000 RPM's. The box pulls hardest at 2100-3500 rpm's. Good luck and have fun. Report back to us on your time... ... ..... Greg

My weighs 4000 lbs front axle 2750 rear axle =6750. Half tank of fuel without me in the truck.

When I towed a sailboat and had the bed full of junk weighing in at 11,320 lbs I did 17. 5 mpg (see last pic in Reader's Rigs). This included a lot of twisty 2-lane highway going over a mountain pass and speeding up/slowing down.

Rub it in why don't ya! :p

MattSt,

I've never gotten over 12 mpg towing a 4000 lbs. travel trailer and that was the best tank. Usually it's around 10 mpg. This is at 75 to 78 mph and changing speeds with or without cruise hasn't made a difference. I do get better mileage when unloaded, though. I usually get around 18. 6 in mixed driving. Interstate driving at 75 gets me over 19 with a few over 20 mpg. I just drove 2400 miles to and from Yellowstone Park last week and got around 17. 2 mpg at 80 mph on the Interstate and close to 19 mpg tooling around the park.

I've not seen any improvement in mileage since it was new and I now have 29k. The EZ did improve mileage by about 1. 2 mpg.

I'm interested in a bullydog box now!

I just put one on last night. All my thoughts and desires about trading the truck in have VANISHED. Holy crap this thing is a rocket!

I'm going to do some dyno runs as soon as they can get me in. And of course the usual towing report. And maybe just maybe tonight at the tractor pull they will let me hook up to the sled.

Just cranked my Torque Dog up as well. On high it IS scary! Tends to flare a bit on that setting, but it's way more power than I want, and I'm used to some serious acceleration in my street rods.

Mid works well for me, I kinda like the way it pulls up minor grades without even needing any fuel, which makes me feel like towing will be a pleasure. Greg is right, the big change is 2100-3500, the only thing I could wish for is a bit more from the box starting at 1500 or so.

I'll report on EGT's once I tow; so far the mileage seems about 1-2 mpg better.

Regardless, it makes you realize what huge un-tapped potential this latest engine has! Now I just need to get my boost up a bit, since it tops at 25. Maybe a change in the elbow/wastegate? What is everybody else doing? That might help my 1500-2100 punch?
