Yeah I know. I've been holding off waiting for the Edge Juice w/Attitude. Figured I'd kill two birds with that one upgrade. Now that they are saying several more months for the '03 I figured heck with that. So, for less than the price of the EZ I have the Pup and really like it. Been going back and forth over Autometer gauges or the Outlook. With the management capability of the Outlook I'm probably going that way. Hey Muddy, got a deal for me on that? Even with that, I'm thinking turbo and clutch are next. Oh, need to upgrade the exhaust too. Have to take it slow and easy for now because I'm not sure about my job situation for the next several months. If things go bad, I'll have to unload the truck. I don't want to add anything I can't get off quick and clean. Let too much go with my '01.

Quoted from their web page;

Replaces Gauges

Replaces all pyrometer, boost and transmission gauges while offering many more functions from the easy to read screen. Adjusting horsepower features is extremely simple to operate with the quick change functions.

Fuzzy, I read the same thing, but a dealer wasn't sure on trans temp feature. Does anyone have the gauge that can tell me for certain before dropping some dough?

According to the fax I got from Bully Dog a copy of the instruction manual for the Bully Dog Outlook Monitor. It shows Ford, GM, and Dodge a list of features that is applicable to each one of them. Unfortunately the auto trans temp is not one of them.

I am wondering if Bully Dog would offer a optional trans temp sensor with wiring that can be hooked up to the Bully Dog Outlook Monitor. That would be nice feature to have along with the pyro probe sensor that it comes with in the beginning.

I have a question about the power pup... ... ... ... I received mine on Friday but havent tried it yet but I am wondering once you put a program in say the performance mode and you want to change to insane do you have to put it to stock first and then load insane mode? Also the codes it is throwing--after they have cleared is it something the dealer can still see if they looked for them.

Thanks

JIM

What are some actual egt's people are seeing with the various modes of this downloader?? Please reply with real numbers, not 'cool under acceleration. '

Has anyone with a Laramie and the security features used the downloader and verified their security features still work? Thanks.

According to Bully Dog this morning: the SKIM will return to normal with the reload of your stock program. I erased the 633 code once and it has not returned after many starts.

The 0602 code will show up at every start. On my truck I did not have any dash lights to indicate the reload. I think later ECMs may not do this. Bully Dog did say that the 602 code will stop after reloading the stock program. They also said the dealer could find evidence of program loading if they knew where/how to find it. I don't have any details as to what they can find. It may be number of starts since download or a date stamp as you all have indicated.

I like my 90 horse program alot and will not be changing it untill I tow the trailer to southern Utah next week.

Briman, thanks for the news. I'm assuming that SKIM is the security features? If it's normal with the stock program, does that mean when running the bullydog programs that the security system is disabled??

Hmm - codes at every start. Initially this thing sounded like the greatest thing out, and totally problem free... Now it appears this thing has a code setting issue as well. Arghh, what's going to happen when we all wait for the edge juice and it sets codes as well? Injectors? :)

Yes, SKIM is the security key interface module. That's close if not correct. The 0602 code may not actually set itself at every start, it's just that the little DTC eraser feature that comes with the Power Pup may not be effective at actually erasing it. I wonder if it will go away after 40 starts like other non recuring codes. Only time will tell. The 0602 code has so far been transparent to my use. In other words, if I don't go looking for it, it does not bother me or my trucks function.

I consider the PPDL to be trouble free and works very well. I did have to do some soul searching before I loaded the program. I hope to not have any warranty issues, God willing and if the river don't rise.

No Codes

I had the tow mode loaded on Friday and there were no codes. On Saturday I changed to the insane level and the brake and ABS lights came on. I didn't check the codes, but the lights did go out. I can check for codes later.

Is anyone else running this with a six speed? The reason I ask is that I start off in second gear and when it reaches 2000rpm, it just seems to go flat. This is right where the truck is gaining momentum and then it loses it. I usually run it up to about 2200rpm before shifting into third. Right now its annoying.

So the power pup can check to see if you have any codes and if so it has a feature that will erase them or it can just detect them

Jim

no codes for me caused by the pup. i get an 0700 code caused by my dtt smartcontroler which is erased by the pup. i dont have the special gray security keys.

lightman,,,,,,,,my temps are slightly over 1300 on insane on a wot run to 100 mph but i have the dd jammer. i also have dd2s which add a bit of temp. my rig weighs 9400 with me and full fuel. with a prievious timing/pressure box or a pressure only box i would get to 1450 b4 too long and have to let off. this pup is way cooler egtwise than anything else ive seen.

JEly,

Yes you have to put the system back to stock mode before you can change it to another performance mode.

Doug

not true. you can have one program downloaded and then w/o going back to stock then download another performance prgrm. if for some weird reason a program 'didnt take' then ya wld have to download stock prgrm before downloading the perf program ya want to install.

everytime i have changed programs i have never went back to stock and changing from 1 program to another 8 minutes with no delays
