I switched from my Quadzilla race box to a Bullydog power pup with the outlook monitor today. First impressions, the egt,s are less(200-250 degrees)with the BD power pup set in the (90HP) performance mode than the quad box, very smooth so far and no codes. I really like the outlook monitor, its pretty slick. There is alot of info suppiled with the display. This diesel stuff gets a little addicting, this is my third HP box in less than 2 years time, needless to say the wifes not very impressed :-laf coobie

Please let us know what kind of fuel mileage you have gotten with each box. I am curious, I just got the triple dog and set on perf. I have gotten 1 to 1. 5 mpg better. 2005 ctd 3500 drw 4x4 quad cab.

Couple of questons for you guys:

1) Since it's a downloader and it is reprogramming the ECM instead of fooling it, does the overhead stay accurate? Right now mine is spot-on (stock)

2) How's the low rpm fueling? The T-dog is rated at much lower torque increases compared to a pressure box. My 100hp quad made over 225lbs more torque on the dyno. I think the Triple Dog at 90 hp is only increasing 100lbs torque, and on the extreme setting (113 hp in a SO/HO) only around 130 lbs more torque.

3) After having a downloader, would you go back?

coobie,

We have gotten the same response from customers that have replaced the Quad with the Power Pup and or the Triple Dog programmers. To us the main aspect is the lower EGT's, gets you more useable HP and better MPG in most cases, if you keep your foot our of it anyway!

Mark,I really like the BD power pup with this outlook monitor. I had a chance this weekend to fiddle with the outlook monitor and check out all the settings it has. Needless to say I am very impressed with it. One of my co-workers has been running the power pup on his 2003 duramax now for about 50,000 miles and has never had any issues or codes with it,that is why I bought one. My local diesel shop,Daves diesel in angola Ind. where I bought the pup told me the same thing as you are saying, glad I listened to them. coobie Oo.

I think my overhead is more accurate with the powerpup verses the quad box. With the qaud box my overhead was reading 21 mpg,s verses my hand cal. mileage of 18-19 mpg,s. The powerpup is reading 18 mpg,s now on the overhead which is more realistic. I will not know for sure until I get a chance to hand cal. the powerpup. I would at this point stick with the powerpup downloader verses the quad race box based on my code issues I had with my truck. I guess it is just personal perference on my part. coobie :D

I have had the power pup on my truck now for over 20k miles. No codes set however my concern is there seems to be alot more engine noise (mabey injectors I am not sure. ) Lots of smoke both white at startup and tons of black smoke anytime a get on it hard. The outlook monitor is nice but it DOES NOT defuel the truck and the quality is bad. I am on my second outlook monitor and I am getting ready to send it back for repair because the light flickers and it drives you nuts at night. As far as milage my truck gets about 1 more mpg at the 50 hp setting, but it gets 2mpg less at the 90 hp setting. I havn't ran it on the 130 hp setting because I am sure I would want to keep it there and I am concerned that the truck will not handle it.

My question to anyone who might know What about the fuel pressure, do I need to be concerned?

tripledog stuff

Well, I took my 05 in for service guys, looking for a mileage reflash, yep, thats right, they couldnt even tell me on the phone if there was a reflash available for it! I backed the tripdog program all they way out/uninstalled, and after reinstalling a day later, my overhead is seemingly more accurate, just about spot on. Weird. Has anyone tried acetone in the fuel yet? Also, isn't naptha a good cetane booster? Seems like all of the cetane boosters have it in some form. ANyway, my mileage is better at the 90 horse setting than anyother, and no white smoke ever, only brownish under heavy footing it. I am sooting less with no kitty by the way. and the t-dog is rated at 250 foot lbs of torque at the extreme setting on the '05. Has the afe proguard intake bought you anything? mileage?

I cannot say for sure if the afe proguard 7 has increased my mileage because I have been running 3 different HP boxes the last 2 years but the afe sure sounds cool Oo. coobie
