Headed out for a fun weekend of camping on Wednesday at Little Boulder Creek in Idaho. Was headed down the road when speed limit changed to lower speed. Kicked it out of cruise, then when slowed started to press on throttle peddle all ready on the floor. Hit cruise again back up to speed. Tapped brake to take out of cruise again and thought I would repeat this to nurse along until I could find a place to stop. Put back in cruis #@$%! engine accelerated truck did not :{.
$600 tow later, lots of friends to the rescue, transmission shop. . Broken Billet shaft between Torque converter and trans mission. More metal in pan than needed.
Sure surprised me! Never thought I would have to worry about a transmission again. I drive very conservatively and never hot rod the truck. Do pull 32. 5' 5th wheel. I only had about 60K on transmission when it went.
Yes, I have talked with them several times. I have no animosity toward DTT. The transmission is out of warranty. I knew up front that it had a 24 month unlimited mileage warranty. Good advise was offered but no parts help was offered. :-{}
dunno that rubs me Bob , a guy steps up and spends large dollars on a supposed quality trans so you dont have to do it again and they blow you off?, might as well have done the $1600 local guy rebuild.
I would overnight that billit part with some dog crap on it to the owner and make him sighn for the package if it was my trans.
not at all, clutches fail, tourqe converters fail thats life, a billit input shaft should not break, It should have a lifetime warranty no matter who owns it,
, take care of a guy... have a customer for life, blow him off over a few dollars bad press goes on for life. at the very least they should have sent him a new shaft and a sorry about your trans failing.
