My truck is a 98 24V standard cab long bed automatic. It is stock. When accelerating in stop and go traffic I fell a bump in the drivers seat. At first I thought it was in the seat back, then it felt like it was in the floor under the seat. I've looked under the seat and under the truck, and everything looks good. Any ideas. "It's not the steering shaft, that's a different bump.

does it feel like a thud you feel in the middle of your back when accelerating? does it seem to go away the faster you are going when you accelerate?

do you have a 4x4?

I had a "thud" that I could not identify, it ended up being the splines on the driveshaft momentarily hanging up and not sliding when the axle wrapped up.

try this, remove the driveline from the xfer case and grease the splines.

My truck is a 2WD. I get one thump or bump per acceleration and decelaration cycle. I did have a similar feeling from a 2WD suburban that I owned and it was the drive shaft splines sticking on the transmission output shaft. I will give that a try.

Near full?

Is your fuel level near full? Mine does it due to fuel slosh slamming against the tank but only when near a full tank of fuel!

You might want to check the u-joints. The neddle bearings might be gone or you might have some slack in the caps. It will cause the bump when taking off and stopping but no other time. Also check the carrier bearing for play.
