Last weekend a elderly gentlemen took it upon himself to back into my beautiful CTD and destroy (this doesn't take much, so I've heard) my factory bumper along with the brand X brush guard that was on the truck when I bought it last October. The estimates from bodyshops I have got are in the $2100 range for a new factory bumper, new brush guard, and repairing the left fender (barely damaged, but it is damaged). Of that $2100, about $400-$500 is for repairing the fender, leaving $1600-$1700 for the factory bumper & brand-X brush guard replacement. My question is, if the aforementioned elderly gentleman's insurance company (Horance Mann) will allow it, what bumper/guard or bumper assembly is best for replacement? Keep in mind I live in moose country (Alaska) so stoutness is a plus, of course shipping weight is a minus. I'm not sure if I could get a D. O. R. bumper shipped up here for that kind of cash. The wife is pregnant so convincing her to cut loose with a few hundred bucks is a little more complicated these days. There is a Ruenel dist. up here but god those things are heavy. I was also curious if any one has tried www.stealthoffroad.com The bumpers look ok but I wouldn't buy one without seeing it first hand. Other than that, what about Ranch Hand, Prozap, etc. ???

Any comments are appreciated.

I also have a buckstop and I totalled a cavalier with it 10 days after putting it on the truck with NO damage to my bumper or truck. It's definately stout! Shipping weight on a front and rear bumper was 370 lbs, the rear being about 90 of that I'd guess - so shipping will cost you a bit. Worth taking a look though.

ben-ak,

I have an ARB and am very happy with it!

I shipped it from Seattle for $60. 00 on Key Trans and they picked it up at the ARB warehouse in Seattle for $28. 00. I ordered it from Sams Offroad. Total cost was approx 950.

Buckstop is popular because they are a great bumper at perhaps the most reasonable price-- good value.

Layne at Denver Off-Road had a great rep for fine aluminum bumpers. He also sells the SWEET looking UTE bullbar.

Do a search on UTE and DOR--- you will like the pics you find.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Now all I have to do is wait for Horance Mann to cut loose. I'll upload some pics of whatever I end up with.

You may also want to check out Silver Star Mfg. I have seen their products and they are very stout. He also has many options for lights, winch, tow hooks, etc. I don't know what the shipping would be but bumper prices are pretty reasonable.
