An earlier post on billet grills reminded me of this cool accessory I picked up at the Mopar Nationals in August - and finally got around to putting in last weekend! As you can see from the picture, it fills the holes next to the fog lights with matching honey comb grillwork. You wouldn't be able to use the holes as steps anymore, but I think it finishes off the front nicely.

Vic, these look like what I've wanted. However, the website states that they'er not for '99 or 00' model years. Since I've got an '01, I'd assume that they won't fit my truck either. You have a 2000, I think. Have you installed these on your truck??

I recently purchased a set of stull diamond wire grill inserts, they look great and the diameter is smaller than the stock grill. i had to order the bumper inserts though. check em out.

I had the Lund bug screens in the bumper before I changed it to my new deer strainer bush bumper.

The Lund worked well but the small diameter holes cut out too much light from the fog lights. I drilled out the holes to double the diameter in front of the lights. That improved the lighting significantly but was not totally satisfactory. If the old bumper had stayed on, I would have cut out a large portion in front of the lights. If that didn't work, then I would have cut them so that the lights were fully exposed.

The Lunds were great at stopping everything but nats and guts.

The problem with those fancy inserts is they look like they would stop as much as the regular grill... and that ain't much. Suppose you've thought of that and put screen behind the grills.

Vick R. Thanks for the link. I just ordered a set for my ride. I'll put screen in back of them to keep the little items out.

After seeing the post this AM, I checked the web site
http://www.unusualauto.com/truck_accessories.htm

It turns out it is just down the road from where I work. I called the 888# and got the owner on the phone. He doesn't have a "store", he does mail order only. He did agree to meet me at the local airport to drop off the set of grille insets I had purchased, we both had some business to take care of in that area.

Turns out he is a real nice guy. He said he would do a group purchase for TDR members (sorry wwcd2, I'm not trying to move in on your specialty). If we order at least five sets, he will sell them for a few dollars less than the internet special price ($22. 95) listed on the web site. If we order 10 or more sets he will knock off a few dollars more.

I really like the way they look on my truck. Drop me an email if you want the details.

I am going to be without a computer for while, maybe someone can re-thread this as a group purchase.

I have a 99 SLT, and they fit great. I think they really complete the front of the truck. Its my understanding that they won't fit the 99+ Sports because the bumpers are different.

Now all I need is to find that pre-99 White sport grill!

I installed a Stull Billit grill and fog inserts in my '96 1500Ram, and when I got my Y2K 3500 I matched them in my new truck. I think they make the truck look awesome. Paid about $190 through Summit.

Bought mine before the buy. Takes longer to get them out of the package than it takes to install. They look good. One must have the fog light plastic insert for them to work
