anyone know of a heavy duty bumper mounted set. I can certainly make my own with 2/0 but I need everything from the battery to the bumper. I want to be able to run to my tripplite converters in the house in the event of a blackout. I am not giving up my computer games/ac/beer just because the power died. .

any ideas?

Associated makes a couple of different kinds. Check A. W. Direct. Sorry i dont have a link to their sight but it takes all i got to chickenpeck at the keyboard.

I had thought about doing the same thing but decided not to. Here in MN they use more salt than sand. Salt plus snow= salt water. Carrosion is terrible around here. Id make sure you can cap the cables off VERY tightly if your going to mount them on the bumper.

Its a 12v dc to 120v ac inverter.

I have the 3000 watt model and a 500w that doesn't seem to be available anymore. After last years blackout and the one we had a few days ago. I wanted something I could run my computers, ac, fridge and a few lights off of. Originally I was going to build a large UPS w/ bunch of batteries for the computers. So I might pick up a second 3000 after I do some more math. A battery bank with the inverter and when it starts to drain down I can just charge it back up with the truck.

I like the idea of the Honda EU2000 series generator sets.

parallel a couple of them and you can cool the house!. A feature that is almost a must have in balmy Maricopa County, USA...

And, unhook the parallel sync cables and you pick 'em up and throw 'em in the pickumup truck and go fishing!

Thomas ..... how am I supposed to get my project done with all of those other cool things there on that website :) thanks

rbattelle I bought mine online last year. Take the model number put it in google and search for the best price.

John, I never thought about paralleling generators.

I am completely rewiring my house (in EMT) so I am looking into being able to switch it over to a backup. Kohler makes nice units, pricey (around 10g's) though. But picking some cheap turbo diesel from an vehicle might be a fun project.
