I just placed an order for front (classic D4) and rear buckstop bumpers. Buckstop seems to be a bit backlogged atm, so they will not be able to build mine till 3/21. I did look at road armor, but they want over 1,000 for the same set up. I also look at ARB and Warn.

Just wondering what experinces others have had with buckstops and looking for any install advice.

The rear was a peice of cake, but i had to buy a pop rivet gun to rivet on the diamond plate panels. it came ups to my front door. The front one was a little heavier and i had to schedule the freight company to drop it off. Picture two guys carrying that heavy sucker into the living room of my girlfriends townhouse (i put it together in there too).

When i put it on me and another guy used a floor jack. it wasn't too bad, but very difficult to get the lines right. This past weekened i finally got it all lined up good. it took two floor jacks, some wood, and an air acuated front end lift.

I think the directions were pretty good, i can't remember having any problems. Oh, now i remember. the directions give you the options of modifying these 4 triangle brackets for reinstallation, but it wasn't even worth the hassle, i just chucked them out. Also you will have to reuse alot of the stock hardware and i think it was even missing some big washers, luckily the guy helping me was a tinkerer and a dodge mechanic, so he had plenty of spare hardware. Good luck, i will try to get some pictures posted tommorrow.

Hope you enjoy your Buckstop. I think they are a great bumper. You will need help on the front bumper when you decide to install it. A minimum of 3 good strong backs and a floor jack will be helpful. Remember that your OEM fogs will not fit in the Backstop. I had them ship new fogs with the bumper along with the 12K winch.

I installed my new Buckstop (the same one that was on the cover of TDR#54)and it was pretty much straight forward. I had my wife steady it on the floor jack while I got the first few bolts started. It took about 3 to 4 hours in my driveway.

The problem I am having is with the additional wt. (about 190 lbs. more than stock) The front end now bottoms out on the speed bumps on my street, even @ a slower speed.

I have ordered four new Bilsteins from Geno's that I'm hoping will help, but I think I'll probably need a pair of HD springs.

I will keep you posted as to my solution.

BTW I am soooo slow at typing if want to call me about this my cell #is 408 206 2894.

Also, my truck is a '06 2500 QC SB 6 SPD CTD stock with 17k miles.

I installed my bumper solo. Used an engine hoist to install it. Ran the chain through an old innertube so the paint wouldn't get scratched. Was pretty easy. No trouble getting it lined up.

My ranchhand front bumper replacement with grill and headlight gaurds came in one big piece on a skid.

When I found out that it was all once piece on a skid I paid a local place to order it, receive it, and install it.

They used 2 guys and a forklift to get it right.

They were done in under 3 hours, with 2 people you could try to say it was 6 hours but they did not bill it that way so you can figure out what you think on that timeline.

I would normally do it myself but with me in an apartment and my engine hoist in storage I just could not come up with a good way to deal with 300lbs in the back of a truck and me needing to unload it.

The back bumpers don't seem too bad and I am going to probably get one soon.

I did my Ranch Hands single handed in my garage. No special tools except for a come-a-long, and a couple ratchet-type load straps. I suspended the bumper from the garage trusses and with a little adjustment to height and tilt, drove the truck to it and put the bolts in. Somewhere I have pictures.
