Bunny Hop in 4x4

I have a few questions in regards to truck hopping when in 4x4 while plowing through snow or muck (Mostly noticable in Snow)



Whould more weight in the back end help?



How about a different set of shocks?



How much damage will this do to the driveline etc... . ?



Does anyone else experience this?



I find it quite annoying, especially when you are going up a grade or through a thick snow drift and it starts to hop and you loose all your momentum... ... AND GET STUCK!

My 94 was REALLY bad. It would jump violently in deep snow or just a couple inches of loose sand. (my 03 does it too but not quite as bad) I bought a set of traction bars from Rob Thomas and it's a different animal now. The hopping is gone (except a little in reverse) and it has a better feel that's sort of hard to describe. Not really a firmer ride, but there is no more squatting when you accelerate. (it almost feels like the back LIFTS when you jump on it hard) I like em and I'm glad I did it.



How about a tester for the 03 model Rob? (hint, hint )

The 2500's and 3500' suffer from a bit of axle hop when pushing hard with good traction...



My 99 Toyota Prerunner was almost unrideable on the beach because of the rear end bouncing up and down. The cure was a set of traction bars to keep the rear axle from twisting under load.



Not sure if they are made yet for 03/04, but any suspension shop can make them for you, if made improperly the will limit the rear ends length of travel which isn't good.

Hopping..

I found that the brand of tire makes a abaig difference. When I went to a full snow/traction tire with studs all the hopping left. I believe it was because these tires didn't spin very often.
