Burning oil

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed any oil usage in the first 1500 miles of their 600? Ive gone through 1/2 quart already and its all black. All other Cummins Ive owned, including the 04 I just traded in last month, never used a drop or ever turned black.

I haven't ever consumed a drop, but that doesn't mean there's something wrong with your truck if it is consuming oil. Of course, be sure to check the level only on level ground after the truck sits for at least an hour (preferably overnight).



If it is using a quart every 3k, I'd expect it to decrease quite a bit over time. I doubt you'd get any satisfaction from the dealer anyways.
