I just replaced my steering gear, pressure hose (hydro booster to gear), and return hose (gear to cooler)

filled everything up, and I can steer without leaving a trail of ATF4 everywhere. Oo.

Every time I stop, I have been popping the top off of the steering fluid reservoir to release any air that may have been bled out of the system. this has been going on for a week now, and there is still the *pop* sound when I take off the cap.

This should eventually go away, right? The system including the cooler was empty for a couple of days, so I imagine there had to be some air in the system, but I didn't think there would be this much. any thoughts?

Same here, never lost the stupid thing, usually winds up down on the frame. what I do now is this... I silicone the crap outta the thing before i screw it on, seems to hold longer that way. Just be careful when/(if) you remove it so no silicone winds up in the resevoir.

FWIW, whenever Iv changed hoses or any of the associated parts, all Iv done is fill the PS tank and turned the steering wheel from side to side a couple of times to bleed the system.

Never had a prob with the cap blowing off.

Maybe Iv just been lucky.

The popping may be when the pressure is released from within the system.
