I think there are three different options? which one do you guys think work the best in terms of good looks and keeping the mud off? Whats a decent price to paint to match? thanks, Doc

Doc, My truck had dealer installed Bushwacker extenda-fenders on it, painted. Look in my rig gallery for some pics. They give good protection, are a touch wide for my tastes, especially in the front.

I just ordered the exttend a fender dont have installed yet they are at the body shop being painted. I paid 520. 00 painted and installed.

I went with the extend-a-fenders (the biggest size) and am pleased with them. I don't think the smaller sizes would of provided enough protection for the 315/70's. I also liked the looks of the extend-a-fenders over the OE's, IMHO they blend with the truck lines better. I think I paid $200-ish to paint them to match my graphite metallic.

I like bushwackers, but be advised that they do not tape to the body, they rest against it w/ a rubber edging which WILL eventually wear right through the paint down to the metal.

I have the extended ones on mine. There a little large as I only have stock tires but you get used to the looks. They do not stop one speck of mud from flying up the side of the truck. In fact because of the distance they stick out, especially at the rear, the front wheels throw all the stones etc. into the rear flares which are all stone chipped for about 10" up. So much for the paint job.

They also don't fit well to the contours of the truck, even with trimming and fussing. And yes they do rest against the body of the truck separated by a black rubber strip. It hasn't caused any rubbing damage that I've noticed as yet. Not to say it won't though.

These flares should be installed only in conjuction with big mud flaps or running boards to prevent the chipping. It took about one hour on gravel roads to ruin my paint.

To make a long story short I would not own these again. Far to expensive for what you get and the little protection they give.

I will eventually replace these with the one piece fibre glass running board flare combination, although not perfect, but alot better set up and protection for the money than the Bushwhackers.

This maybe isn't what you want to hear. But these are my experiences and thoughts. Pete

Today i picked up my POCKET STYLE bushwacker fender flares for mine. A buddy of mine has them and they look awesome. The regular extend a flare looks plain..... In a couple weeks ill have them painted and installed. CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!

Now if i could just find me some Nice wide mudflaps with a cummins logo on them id be set... . COUGH* anyone know where i can get these? COUGH*

Nick

When I installed mine I also installed the flaps with the Cummins C and the Ram head that you can buy at the cummins.com powerstore. I mounted them to the flares themselves so I wasn't screwing into metal. That also moved them outboard a good bit. They aren't as big as I'd like, but they do pretty well considering how much gravel the 315's like to pick up.

My paint is already chipped to hell along the bottom of the doors, but that happened before I had the flares and adequate mudflaps. I don't think it's getting any worse now.

I put on the Bushwacker Extend a fenders ... ... fronts went on fine after re-locating Cummins emblem, back flares needed alittle fixin with a file so the holes would line up with fender holes... ... ... I did this so there would not be a preloaded . I will add flaps later. :D
