I need cruise control added help!

Wednesday afternoon we took delivery of our new/used 2002 Dually. Yesterday we picked up our '05 32' Toyhauler. Drove it home through 75 miles of Los Angeles traffic at 5:30 in the afternoon... . whew! First timer for a rig like this and boy it was an adventure. The trip was uneventful until I was maneuvering it in a dark area and clipped a fence, digging a horizontal slot almost the full length of the fiberglass entry door. I was heartbroken, but my sweet wife said no big deal, it's now christened. She already found a biz that specializes in that type of work and plans to give them a call on Tuesday. Oh well... ... ... ... ... ... . got that out of the way first thing.

The truck had a gooseneck installed in it by the previous owner so we installed the neck on the trailer and pronounced it good. It towed well and I am so impressed by this truck I can't express it. Totally stock and does a fine job. I may do a little bombing down the road after I install the usual warning devices everyone recommends to install on the pillar. Maybe a FASS system and and Edge EZ after that.

Anyone have any favorites for toolbox/fueltank combos for the bed? I don't think I want to go over 30 gallons just to keep the weight down to a minimum, but I like the idea of that extra range. Shock recommendations? I hear some members say Bilstein. What price range are they in?

All in all it has been a whirlwind three days, but what an adventure. That sound and feel the the CTD is very addictive, and I now understand on a personal level why this site exists and why there are so many loyal members and owners. Happy to be here, I am. This has been a dream for many years and it is now just beginning. Thanks to all who have answered my rookie questions on this site in all of the forums. :D

Happy New Year and welcome! Sorry to hear about your first scrape, but like you said that's out of the way...

Happy New Year and enjoy your new rig and watch out for those face muscles :)

You might want to check with the trailer manufacture about using that adapter. Many will void warranty, as it applies more stress to the front frame area. SNOKING

Welcome aboard and this is a good web site. Sorry about your mishap, but those things do happen. Don't ever back up that trailer without a guide. Happy New year.

Try these people. i have just a plain 30 gal tank and 2 seperate tool boxes. To: -- email address removed --

I live in Long Beach and I found that whenever I leave it either has to be 5AM or after 10AM. I always try and get back in town around 10-11 AM. It helps avoid trafick

I just installed a set of Bilsteins from Off Road Warehouse they have TDR member discounts. Price was right around $50 each. I was surprised at the difference they made over the Monroes that I had. They did an excellent job handling the weight of my fiver. Get a fifth wheel hitch instead of that adapter or do a search on the adapters and see what you think but I think what you read will scare you.

If it's a new fiver and the damage is on the door can't you get a new door from the manufacturer and just replace it?

Have fun and enjoy your new rig,

Mike

I'm already in discussion with the dealer about their 'recommendation' to install the gooseneck adapter. Snoking pointed out that it might violate the trailer warranty, and he was correct. We are waiting to hear back from the dealer on how they plan to remedy this. We are working on the door issue at this time as well.

Thanks for the tip on the shocks. Did you install them yourself or have a garage do it for you?

Good tip, thanks I'll look into it in the near future. I agree on drive times. After living here for 24 years, you learn or sit in traffic forever.

Welcome to the TDR! Just watch out when the HP bug starts to bite.

There's just something about a 7% grade- 35 pound boost- turbo whistle- driving in the slow lane passing the cars. Puts a big :D on your face.

I didn't have the time or place to do the shocks myself so I ended paying Big O tires $90 to install them, seemed like a bit of a rip off but I was getting ready for a trip and had to get them on.

I don't know... ... ... . $22. 50 per corner doesn't sound too bad to me, if I'm not doing the work. Hell, just setting up the jacks and stands, not to mention busting loose and manhandling the dually setup makes me sweat just thinking about it. Guess I'm gettin' old and much of this stuff no longer holds a fascination for me. :) Crawling around... ... ... ... ...

'Course, if I had my own lift... ... :-laf
