Well, if we didnt have oil, we would suddenly be thrust back to 1820, but without the infrastructure that made life bearable back then. In fact, we wouldn't be that well off. At least in 1820 we had whale oil. Whale oil isnt available anymore.
If you dont think oil is worth fighting for, give up your truck. Give up your car. Dont ride the bus or train. Dont fly. Grow you own food. (oil makes it possible to get food to the market) Make sure that the seeds you plant are harvested from your own plants (seed at the store gets there because of oil) Dont use electricity (some electricity is generated to oil derived fuel) (oil products made it possible to build the huge electrical plants that we have). Make your own cloths out of grass you harvest from an open field somewhere (the store where you buy cloths depend on oil products to get their inventory, the manufacturers of cloths depend on oil products to mass produce cloths, transport their product etc). Dont heat your house (any source of winter heat in the US is either directly from oil products, or depends on oil somewhere in its generation and/or delivery. Give up your computer (lots of plastic derived from oil)
If you are doing all of the above wothput exception and more, then good for you. If you are not, then you are a hypocrite.
