There has been a lot of talk about brakes lately, and as you can see, you need to buy the new hardware kit when you put shoes on. I checked my file and in '03 I put new shoes on, but for some reason unknown I didn't replace the hardware kit. So instead of spending the $20 then, it cost $20 for the kit, however much for the seals, drum turned, and I got all ready to put back together and found that my outer bearing was shot. So I think it was around $125, all for that stupid little spring.

I have seen this many times over the years. It is depressing every time I see it happen.

If you have watch my posts over the years. I tell everyone to replace all the small parts for this reason. They don't cost that much and the damage it does if one little part fails can be expensive or deadly.

P. S. the rubber lines is another item to replace. If the system is down already for repair. Time to replace the soft rubber lines also.

See you next weekend. :D

mine after having them checked did not need new pads the ones on it were almost new, they just had never been adjusted out, but i did keep the hardware kit that i purchased for a later time, the one thing that didn't come with the kit is the retaining clip for the emergency brake cable. . So be aware of that, this kit was for my W250
