coming into the holiday season, i just wanted to toss out a warning to you gun owners who may be considering a safe purchase for yourself or a friend. I have purchased 2 biometric/electronic safes from the Stack On company from a national sporting goods chain, and BOTH have not been programmable. i brought the first one home, got the fingerprint scanner to work perfectly, but the punchpad kept defaulting back to the factory setting of 1-2-3-4... .
pretty pointless if you ask me, to have a fingerprint scanner, if the punchpad only gives an option of 1-2-3-4. thinking it was a one time fluke, i returned to the store to exchange for the same model (it is however, a really nice setup, gas charged hinges, top door, boltable to the floor) and the exact same thing happened to safe #2. i called the 1-800 #, and the english speaking woman on the phone (illinois) took me thru it step by step, and it continued to do it. a safe that cannot be trusted isn't a safe in my mind. . has anyone else bought or heard anything else about these safes?
