Looking in to 2006 quad cab 2500 and 3500 srw trucks to replace my good old 12V 3500 (for sale in classifieds). Seem like new 06' are just 2-3K higher than used trucks. Dealer has a 06 quad cab 4x4 Big Horn for $34000. Anyone goten one cheaper? What is a Big Horn package, seems like just the wheels and the 1yr sirius radio? Also have non big horns for sale for $31,000. Any advice is apreciaated, never bought new and hate dealers.

The Big Horn pkg includes:

17" x 8. 0" Forged Aluminum Wheels

7-Pin Wiring Harness

750-Ampere Maintenance-Free Battery

Bighorn Badge

Bodyside Molding

Fog Lamps

Class IV Hitch Receiver

Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel

Rear Sliding Window

SIRIUS Satellite Digital Radio

Tow Hooks

Trailer Tow Group

and is a $1355 option package

the bighorn is a rip off with the cummins, unless you have to have all the little nit picky things, its much easier to just get the aluminum wheels and tow package seperate. As for price, post or PM me the sticker price of the truck you are looking at and I will tell you what you should be able to get it for. Please don't pay too much!!!! all dealers will pretty much make the same deal, because a truck sold is a truck sold, its not like they can't get more, so if the make $1500 on one and 5k on another, its still money in the bank

My BIL lives in MI... . he got a fax quote from Dave Smith... . www.usautosales.com or www.davesmith.com and took it into (the fax quote) into his local dealer... his local dealer was at least 5000 high..... but after a while matched the price... .

Dealer invoice, minus 1000, less all rebates... . to TDR members... . Dishman in Spokane does the same thing... . I've purchased from both... Marty at Dave Smith and Rob Crosswhite at Dishman... . www.dishmandodge.com both are good to deal with... .

The issue is... you'll find the real price from these guys... and there are several other dealers who watch these boards..... but there not in my back yard.....

Hope this helps... BTW... when the 4500 and 5500 are available to order. . I'm getting one or two... .

Thanks for the replies, anyone on the east cost have any suggestions? Realy scared I'm gonna get whacked at the dealer and find out after the fact that I could have gotten a truck for $2000 less.

Go to edmonds and price it out. They give very realistic invoice pricing, and the the dealer prep fees.

Do the Dodge website at the same time so you'll know which package(s) you have to get with each choice.

You can also used autos. yahoo.com. I used BOTH edmunds, AND yahoo, then ask the dealership for the ITEMIZED invoice sheet. Compare and contrast all 3. They should match up very closely. If they don't give you the ITEMIZED invoice sheet (Not just the invoice price) I would not bother dealing with them.

1- The Dodge factory incentive for May is $3500.

2- If you have your own business, ask for the "Business Link" discount, for another $300.

3- Join a Farm Bureau, and you can get the Farm Bureau discountof $500.

4- Make the dealer waive the holdback. They won't want to, but I made mine do it.

5- Also ask for the "friends and family" discount, which applies to friends and family of Daimler/Chrysler (and its supplier companies) employees.

What is the sticker price on that Big Horn you are looking at?

mawgie, can you combine business link and farm bureau?

also, if you are buying the truck for at or below invoice, minus holdback, i'm pretty sure they arent making profit or an insignificant profit...

Mawgie, the Big Horn MSRP is $42,715 the other SLT was just over $39,000.

Looks like both already have $8000 or so off already.

Good tips on the farmers bureau and buisness link.

You can't just join the farm bureau you have to be a member for 30 days before you can get the discount. 34,000 seems like a real good deal to me, at least it would be here in upstate NY.

Truck Discounts

Add to the list of truck discouts. You'll get $500. 00 off if you put in a Mopar dealer installed exhaust brake if you belong to Business Link.

I also bought an extended Chrysler warranty $0 deductible, 7 years, 100,000 miles. The exhaust brake assembly is covered for the length of that extended warranty. My dealer checked with DC.

here how things panned out, 2006 quad cab slt, thunder road package (same as big horn far as I could tell) 4X4, ctd, cloth, did not get adj pedals, power rear window or sun roof. paid $33,000. could not use farmers bureau and buisness link at the same time, had to have memeber card to use farmers bureau any way (could have used that $50 for toys). Bought it at Framingham dodge, sales manager Mike gave me a no hagle price over the phone. No song and dance.

I think you done good. I paid $33,200 for a very similar truck, optioned as follows:

'06 Ram 2500 4x4, Quad Cab, SLT ($33,150)

Cummins ($5555)

Auto trans. ($1095)

Premium bench, w/power driver's seat +seat storage console ($455)

2UG package

Light group ($180)

Thunder Road package: ($1,295)

Anti-spin rear diff: ($285)

Power sliding rear window ($155)

Fold away power tow mirrors ($100)

Best of luck with it.

Think i'm ok without tow mirrors this time but might kick myself for not getting that power rear slider.

Gettin the bed liner sprayed today, leather covers on their way, nerf bars and mud guards next, also ordered the juice w/ attitude (couldn't wait) , how long ya think we should wait before insalling it?

Guess I should update my signature!
