Time to sell my signature '04.5 truck. We're reluctantly replacing it with a '17-'18, maybe a '19 this close to the 2020 model year.

Totally unfamiliar w/historical issues to watch for, avoid or ask about. Essential features needed are: 2500, 6 speed transmission, 4x4, Cummins, cloth seats, 4 door, black, minimal chrome but forged Alum wheels. That's about it in a nutshell.

Prolly going with dealer stock within 200 miles of SE Wis & keep it <$55K tax & title. My signature '04.5 truck will be in the classifieds, on the chance someone local needs it. Can't really sell it until the replacement arrives, eh. Thanks all.

2500 or 3500?
If 3500, Aisin or 68RFE?
Auto-Level?

I think those options provide big enough differences that you need to know what you want and search specifically for it.

But really there isn’t anything to avoid.

The biggest differences from 17 to 18 is the 8.4 stereo for the ‘18 has Android Auto or Apple Car Play, which is a great feature. A 18 8.4 can be installed in the 17 thou, which is what my dad plans to do on his 17. There is also a bed switch for the LED bed lighting and cargo light on the 18’s. 18’s have 30 lb/ft more torque with the Aisin.

Otherwise I can’t think of many differences between those years. Both years have been subject to the same steering recall.

We started shopping for a Big Horn and ended up finding a used Laramie and are much happier with the interior. Surprisingly the cost wasn’t really increased. The Laramies do have better headlights too.

Good luck with the search, and sale.
