buying a 12v truck?

Hopefully my bank will finance me, but i'm gonna be buying a 96' 3500 with a full DR. Performance kit on it... including dr. p P-pump,and stage 4 injectors in it already, with an hx-40... it's a very clean truck NV4500 with US gear splitter in it. The guy wants $20 grand for it. Are there any problems i should worry about with year {besides the obvious death wobble}??---Greg

Does it still have the EGR valve? CA '96, '97, and '98 12V had them.

no egr on that truck.

the only thing i'd be worried about was the guys disreguard for egt that came directly from the source and is exactly what someone willing to spend enough and ignorant enough would buy, or at least buy into... .

I feel you are better off to buy a truck that hasn't been bombed, like My6 says you never know where the egts have been or how much the transmission has been abused. A stock CTD is a hard engine to damage. Get a stock one and bomb it to your own needs, you will probably be money ahead.

EGT's

well... when i test drove it, i tried to get it hot {EGT wise} and maybe the gauge is broken but it didn't get above 1100 on hard throttle for a 30 second throttle stand. . the transmission i don't know, prolly could use a better clutch than a Luk Gold ... . true i guess he had some dis-regaurd for it, hopefully it didn't harm it too bad.
