I have a '93 12 valve right now that I have had for 3 years, runs great, no problems but need more room in the cab due to family.

I have found a: 2002 3500 Quadcab, 24v HO, 6 speed, 4WD . I will be buying it from a dealer. The truck has 67k miles on it.

This truck is still under warranty (100k) and the warranty is transferable, correct? The previous owner was a local woman who pulled her horse trailer with it. It had a GN hitch. She traded it in for a 2004. I will be using it for the same purposes.

I will be test driving and inspecting tomorrow morning.

What should I look for?

Of course I am a little concerned about the Lift Pump issue.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

They are great trucks! I suggest you get a CARFAX report as part of your verification of the trucks condition. If the dealer is willing to give it a bumper to bumper warranty (might only be 30 or 90 days) even better.

Good Luck!

I really couldn't say. Our 2002 truck (see signature) was ordered and we took delivery on 8/15/01. It spends 90% of its working life towing our 13,500 lb 5th wheel. It's never been back to the dealer for anything - no warranty failures at all. The original lift pump still puts out 16+ PSIG at idle, 15 PSIG @ 70 MPH cruise and 12 PSIG at WOT when towing, even with the bigger injectors.

Look to see if it has any codes set. If you can check the maint records, see if the p0193 and/or 0216 codes have been reported. If they have, has the Lp and/ or Injection pump been replaced? If so, how long ago? Other than that, just look for the usual stuff. Good Luck!
