Buying a 3rd gen truck...

I run my truck as an over the road hauler and put on about 150,000 miles a year. I am trying to decide what to buy. There have been a bunch of unhappy Dodge guys that I work with, Ford 6. o scares me to death, and aluminium heads on the d-max ??? It does seem that the least amount of complaining I hear is from the gm guys. I know this is a Dodge site, but I am sure some of you will have honest opinions. My 24valve was an auto (I know bad move) and had a bunch of pump problems. This new truck just needs to work and be reliable, my days of being brand loyal are gone. TAI!!

I will buy another Dodge Cummins. I have a '92 with over 233,000 miles and my daily driver is a '99 with over 174,000 miles. I replaced the VP44 on the '99 at 136,000 miles and 2 lift pumps. I have no complaints. I like you am looking for reliability. The family is growing and I need a Quad cab now. I plan to buy an '05 Cummins. In all honesty, there have been some problems with the 3rd gen Dodges, but by far they have proven to be very reliable in stock form. If you BOMB, all bets are off. You can talk to EB on this forum. I believe he has a 03 and he does put quite a few miles on his hot shotting for the oil fields.



The 6. 0 and Dmax scare me.
