I am about to buy a box for my truck. I was thinking about the tst box. I was wondering if I should go with the digital guages that you can get with the box of should I go with the regular pillar mount guages? How accurate are the digital guages? More so? Also what is the highest setting that you can run with the stock clutch with out slipping it? Both with trailering and empty.

I've found the digital gauges to be not only accurate but easier to look at hten what I expected. They update quickly but slow enough you can read them. I have both (digital and analog) and I generally watch the digital.

I'm assumeing you have a 6 speed (no signature) so I'd guess you'll start slipping the clutch around setting 6. You're egt's will be too high by then anyhow.

Does the TST box give any smoke? Is it in-cab adjustable? I have looked into a "Volumizer" box because I want a little smoke, along with some added power. I am not worried about slipping the clutch because if it does, I'll put in a CON/OFE like whats in the ole '96.

How many settings does the TST box yall are talking about have? If EGT's are a problem, will adding a ATS manifold help? I already have the AFE air inlet system and a 4" Rip Rooks exhaust. I am ready for some smoke and power! :)

thanks, John

Oh, and by the way, I already have the digital guages (boost/pyro) but have not installed them because I want to do it along with the exhaust manifold and tuning box install.

The TST is totally adjustable. 10 settings for hi end power (HP) and 10 settings for low end power (TQ). Any setting above 5 will yield smoke and A LOT of it on 9. The in cab remote has the option of digital gauges which I bought even though I already have analog. Never too many gauges :D I have not installed my ATS yet and will have a new turbo when I do so I can't comment on that.

Check the TST site for pricing and information.

How does it match up to the auto..... it's not much of a match. It'll slip the converters on the high settings pretty bad but use a little caution and back out of it when you feel a slip and you'll be ok. This is a box to be respected.

Without advertising I'll just state the facts:

TST is the only box currently available that adjusts timing and pulse duration without affecting injection pressure.

Timing adjusment cools EGT's

Pulse duration has the capability of adding insane amounts of fuel

Raising rail pressure (although this has not been proven) has the potential for prematurely wearing parts such as injectors or the CP3 high pressure pump.

Whats setting is the stock clutches limit under a heavy load such as a sled pull. I would think it would be less thant the level 6, since you are loading the engine more than in driving.

NOTHIN BUT "TST"

This box is awsome just remember

JUST BECAUSE IT HAS 9 H. P. AND 9 TQ settings doesn't mean you have to use all of them

You wont be disappointed

PAC BRAKE FOR AUTOMATIC

I'm new at this stuff but go to the mountains some, Would this Pac brake help a 03 Automatic? or is this just for Standard Transmissions. . If they can be used on a automatic is there a warranty problem??? Doc

Kerm,

You will get a bunch of opinions on boxes.

What year is your pickup? Is it standard or high output? Is it a California model?

A box that works well on a 03 high output may throw codes like crazy on an 04. 5

on 4x4 my box smokes well enough for the next man to put on the brakes. My box use to throw codes but after i sent it in for the reflash hasnt since. Its really one of those things you have to play with to see.

No box is comaptible with both the old ECM and the ECM in the new 600's. TST has a diffrent program for the 600's, just specify which engine you have and they'll get you the one you need.

A few people have recetly reported codes being thrown. Often they can be traced to loose wire plugs, sometimes not. The early boxes threw more codes as well but I've not had one since I took it in for the flash.

I cant help with the Pacbrake Q's, mines a handshaker. Try a search, there has been much discussion on the topic.

Mine is the 04. I got it in Nov of 03. It has no cat from the factory. I have a 6spd. 4. 10's jake brake, 5" straight pipe, drop in afe. Also, I have 22. 5" rims. I was wondering if the larger tire size will make the clutch slip earlier (lower power setting)?
