No, tire size should not affect clutch slippage. Clutch slippage is dependant on torque and you simply won't have enough until you get up to the same settings as everyone else is slipping them.

I would think larger tires would affect slippage, due to the fact you are loading the engine more with taller tires. Put it this way, which would load the converter more? From a standing start, wouldn't the converter see more load in 3rd than 1st gear? Same goes for taller tires. . More load due to the loss of gearing.

No, the converter (or clutch) is in front of the gear reduction. Gear reductions will multiply torque which is why you can do a burnoff in 2nd gear and not 5th but the torque at the flywheel is entirely dependant on what the engine can produce, nothing more.

You're right if the tires can be slipped because larger tires are harder to slip than smaller ones, therefore the clutch will slip before the tires do. SRadke is right IF there is NO slippage with either sized tires.

Electronic fueling boxes

I was about to order a Edge box but am also looking at the PowerMaxCR. I like the adjustability of the PowerMaxCR. I have a stock auto trans and don't want to over power it. I like to be able to tune the power to the situation. Does the PowerMaxCR simply plug in like the Edge?

i love my TST PMCR. i did throw 2 codes the first week. after talking to "the man", the problem has not reappeared. my codes seem to be related with lugging the engine when starting from a stop (stick shift). don't let the engine get below normal idle speed when starting out. i have followed that procedure and all is well. i drive daily on 2/2 and have more than enough power. mileage is averaging around 20. 2 calculated for the last 3 tanks. i have also noticed that at sustained 50 mph on level ground, i get around 23. 5 mpg by the computer. smoke starts for me at around 3/3 and is somewhat controllable with the go peddle. air conditioning seems to only knock off about . 2 to . 3 mpg.

yes - plug in installation.

PowerMaxCR

I think the PowerMaxCR may be the best box for me. When you are trying to tune something you can't have too much adjustment. The Edge has three settings. That leaves a lot in be tween.

Of all the great features of the TST box the adjustablility is the best. Haveing 10 settings would seem more than adequate but having the ability to regulate low and high end power independantly is just more than cool. Towing a trailer with 7 ton of hay on yesterday I ran on 2 torque/3 hp and it pulls like a dream. Shift to direct and go up the hills with traffic at 950° egt pre turbo. This thing is awesome.

My truck is an 04. Not an 04. 5. It is the HO. But, no cat. I am lookin to just get some added performance out of the truck. I have a 6spd. I tow a little. But, I have only had my truck since Nov and I altready have like almost 45k on it. So, I really don't want to ruin the reliability of the truck. I need it to last a while!!!! Can I reliably make 4-500 hp and still get 250k out of the truck? If so, what products will reliabily do that?

4-500 hp is a lot of power. There is no cut and dried answer to your question. Can you have a truck that will make 500 hp and still last 250k, yes. The catch is you can't make that much power all the time. If you try to tow at that power level every day you'll be spending a lot of money on drivetrain parts. If you just play around from time to time and turn it down a little for towing it can last a long time.

As for parts to get you there, the right single charger, a timing box with duration and/or pressure along with some mild injectors would do the job. There are many ways to get there and the first thing you'll have to do is make an informed decision which box you want and build on that.

PowerMaxCR

I just installed the PowerMaxCR today. Just riding arround the truck seems to realy like this box. Installation went well. I could even get my clubby hand to change the crank sensor connection.

:)

Those of you already owning the Powermax CR, with guages, I can't make out what guages are actually reading with this box.

The TST web-site doesn't say.

Is it Boost & EGT?

PowerMaxCR

The remote with gauges is EGT and turbo boost. Mine does not have gauges. I have my pyro in the pillar where I can see it. I de fuel with my foot.
