Torque Wrench

Does anybody have any experience with Kenworth T2000s. Looking to buy.

Why do you see so few 13 speeds? Most of what I have found have been 10.

Most fleets get 10 speeds because drivers can't drive the 13 speeds. Get a 13 or even an 18 if you want versatility in the future. just don't split the low side.

As far as t2000, they are nice, but I'd look at a pete 387, if you want areodynamics/fuel economy.

For Resale, you can't go wrong with a Pete 379.

Are we talking new or (ab)used? Is it a fleet or o/o truck. Mileage is everything! Get service records, pull oil samples and find out which components have been rebuilt or replaced. Do you get any kind of warranty? Is it a West Coast or East Coast truck (rust). Are the drives caps or virgin rubber, and what do you plan on doing with the truck? Oh yeah... . never ever buy an ex-harbor-contaioner puller. Sometimes it's harder then hell to get the raghead stench out of the cab:D

Don't buy one that had been owned by a grain elevator or fertilizer dealer. Generally poor driving habits and poor maintnance.

I went and looked at a 1966 Peterbilt 2 axle this weekend! Found out the guy didnt want to sell it but he did tell me that he gave $3500 for it a couple of years ago. It orginally had a 5/4 but someone changed it to an 18 speed before he bought it. Also they added air ride which is real sweet.

My son and I want one of these trucks to restore and also pull our 5th wheel with. I know its over kill but its something that him and I can work on together!

I love those old Petes...

Rick
