How important is offset in an aftermarket rim?

very... especially if the truck is going to do anything for a living. I'd look for something absolutely as close as possible.

I was thinking of the options of buying different rims/tires. Although I think the stock 18" aluminium rims are probably the best option. I am thinking they are specific to the build for a reason.

Just ordered a 2021 3500 Laramie from Peterson Dodge in Idaho. Very easy to work with & very professional.

Side note: my 2006 runs so well I may keep it! Just changed oil & all filters. No oil loss between oil changes at 222650 miles!
It thinks the oil change was a blood transfusion! It felt extra perky this morning!!

I changed the offset on my 04 when I went from 17s to 18s and tried for a little more aggressive stance. I went from +40 -->+20 (~1") out and it made a difference in how the truck handled. In my opinion it was much more stable with the OE setup when towing my 16,000lb 5er. ( I also when with a 1" wider tire)
