Hi, Im in the market for my first ctd i saw one today in an add its a 1999 4x4 quad cab with auto . I have been shying away from autos because there more expenssive to deal with and i want some thing that will last awile . Any way the add said many extras so i called it turns out it has a DTT trany in it and alot of upgrades fuel system upgrade, injectors, turbo, gauges, exaust and it has an adjustible computer . It has 57,000 miles on it and he said the upgradeds where done at a reputal shop . Im just woundering if i should worry about mods will they shorten its life alot? Would i be beter off buying one stock? It sounds like a good set up to me i like the fact that it has an upgraded trany and fuel system in it but im woundering weather i would be geting in over my head with all the mods fixing it i would have find compatable parts . Meaning i woluld,nt be able to just got to the nearest dealer for parts . Thanks for reading i whanted to see what poeple here think about it

If it really has a DTT trans you are in luck. They do good work. I wouldn't worry about the truck unless it shows signs of abuse. It sounds like it has some sort of lift-pump mod, which is very good.

I bought my truck with a similar amount of miles and it had been modified. I've put another 100,000 miles on it with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

I believe you can call DTT and verify whether or not it really has been gone through by them.

That truck should still have a bit of the 5yr/100k engine warranty left but any warranty work will be denied by the dealer based on the mods.

With all of that stuff on it, I would guess that the owner is a member here. I would ask if they heard of the TDR.

Most poeple that are putting guages on their trucks are doing it as an investment for the protection of the truck. What to worry about in the used market is the totally stock truck, in my opinion. Then what you are buying is the truck that you see idling in the parking lot for an hour or pulling a trailer into their driveway and shutting it right off with no cool down. Those are the ones that scare me!!

Or if he hammered it hard regularly with the box turned up and ignored the EGT readings. You can't see the inside to know what damage was done, if any. No way to know.

He traded it for a reason... buyer be ware. It may be a great truck, just no way to know without talking to the previous owner and trusting them.

Yeah, I talked to the owner he is seling it through the classifieds adds . I just just rememberd he also said it had a 89% torqe converter and a locker rear end I asked him about TDR and he said he was on a diferent site for a wile but he knew about it . The truck sounds like its built like a tank ! Im going to get a loan from my credit union and go have a look at it in person then i can get a better idea about it. Hopefully its not sold by then:D
