Thanks for the info guys... I searched 3rd gen forums, and found a lot of useful info... I had read most of it before I was serious about getting one, so I had forgotten most of it, that's why I posted my question... Last month the amosil dealer from south Texas showed a fix for the air flow that only cost about 5 dollars. I made the upgrade to my 03 2500 and it improved my mileage 2mpg and only cost me 4. 17cents. Take the air box out and buy a 90deg underground drain from the hardware store cut a hole in the bottom of the air box for the drain to fit seal it with sealant and re install the air box. Takes about 45minutes and improves the air flow 100%.

I did the inlet BOMB on my stock airbox using 3" drain pipe and aluminum flex hose. So far I can't tell any SOP improvement in power or mileage. I was hoping it would help with the high 90s temps we were having.

I think the stock airbox is crap and the filter too small and restrictive-looking. Whatever airbox I get it has to hook up the Diesel Dynamics turbo package, I donno if their airbox is required, but I'm mainly interested in the AFE setup.

Vaughn

That is why I asked him that Vaughn... we built the piping for the turbo to work with our airbox. Whether it will work with others, we don't know.

AFE

Installed the AFE airbox setup on my NEW 03 CTD HO last week. The local DODGE dealer sells them, ($230), and am very pleased. Total install took only 30 min. and no rattles-squeeks, etc. Instant improvement with performance. Cant tell about economy. Have always used good quality air filter upgrades, and would recommend the AFE.

When I installed my intake the truck would rev up to where it started pulling boost a little faster and was the same after. Did make it seem like it had gained a little responsiveness. I have a B1BQS coming in a few days which is supposed to be a direct bolt in while using pretty much any intake available. Piers has got something in the works (turbo) and so does BD. I have driven a truck with the Diesel Dynamics turbo/DD3's and I can say that it is truly a nice part. Truck drives better in every way with no lag and good cooling. It will be interesting to see how the B1 stacks up against it.
