Here it comes

I recently went to Mexico and filled up the truck and found fuel to be around $2. 10 gal that is my translation from Mexican money.
The price of fuel in my area is close to that but when prices go back up i would like to buy bulk fuel in Mexico since Mexico fuel is price regulated .

My question is
1 can you use a external tank
2 how many gallons can you bring back at one time
3 is it illegal
4 what else should i be asking

There was a trucking company here in the Phoenix area that was doing that when fuel was going crazy. After they did that they were restrained to 100 gallons at a time and I believe they put a tanker on the US side and ferried 100 gallons at a time across and unloaded. That sequence slowed down the process since they still had to drive back to Phoenix and fuel trucks for the next day then drive to Mexico and start over again. I believe that later people were posting that Mexico would allow people to fill thier tanks but no auxillary tanks. I guess we will see what restraints come up in about 6 (if that long) months or so when prices start skyrocketing again.

If you have to find any other reason to fill-up over the Border, make it worth your while and visit a Local Strip Club and you will be able to come back with 2 Happy Endings :)

I'm no expert, but if you're filling up any tanks besides of the one that came with the truck, wouldn't that be classified as tax evasion? Just the same as if you were using untaxed, dyed home heating oil or off road diesel. If you buy extra in Mexico aren't you avoiding the state and federal taxes on the fuel? I'm always one to try to find a good deal, but your question #3 asks if it is illegal and I would imagine it is.
