DC came up with another $1,000 cash in the trunk this AM. That makes a total of $4,300 off invoice plus my local dealer is giving me some of his hold back. Some of my questions. I was so proud that my 2000 and 2001 were both made in St. Louis. The dually that the dealer just brought over to my lot was made in Mexico. You boys out there in TDR land with Mexico trucks, how have they been??????

Mine's a Latino truck. :)

160,000 miles and besides the self inflicted wounds and the KDP bagging me, thing are just fine.

Still sounds and rides solid.

I've had 4 Ram CTD's, three have been made in Mexico. The only problem I ever had was a crushed aluminum popcan jammed in the frame of my 01. The only thing cool about that was everything was written in Spanish! Otherwise. . no problems at all.

I was thrilled to find out my rig came from Mexico!!! It is solid as a rock, and even came with some extra goodies I didn't order. :D

Mine's been great except for the rear seals, drum brakes and the dang lift pump... LOL

Honestly my wife's 01 has had more problems then my truck and her's was made in St. Louis... makes me think twice about buying another vehicle that was made in the states.

I Have had 4 rams, 2-1500 from Mexico and 2-2500 from St Louis (last one a CTD) I feel the 1500 were a better quality truck by far, especially the paint. My CTD 2000 QC SB paint is full of dirt... . also a cousin of mine that works at DCX has been to the Mexico plants. The emloyees make alot of money for the area, like around $20. 00 a day or something like that. They work hard and do their jobs right because they know there is a whole list waiting to replace them, Unlike the U. S. and the UAW. Not saying all the UAW is bad, as unions are somewhat helpfull, BUT, when I see people puch out of the plant and blow about a 0. 17% BAC (Blood Alcohol Content), People shooting heroin in the bathrooms at the plant , pounding alcohol, smoking weed, stealing, sleeping, and getting $25. 00-30 somthing an hour makes me sick, If they get introuble or fired, the union wants them to get their job back. Like I said, I am not bashing all the union people, just the useless ones that think their job is owed to them and do not give a crap about what the do. How would you like the guy putting your truck together to be high or drunk. And we wonder why the Japs build a better quality car, and our trucks cost so much. . Its because guys are making $28. 00 per hour to push a broom... . and get stoned...

I am very for American made products, but I was not going to buy my Ram untill i found one that was made in Mexico. After reading these boards for so long before I bought it, I had read several threads about how great the Mexican made ones were, compaired to the St. Louis ones.

Really!?... ..... The only problem with the one they brought me is it does not have the ovhd. computer and I am not wild about silver. The fleet guy is looking for a white one but I have a hold on the silver one in case. He'll call me monday and have something. FYI: He does have a 2500 QC ETH/DEE with all the equipment I want and I like the color(Taupe/Tan int. ) but I have decided to take my own advice and spec the truck for the job I have it for... ... ... . therefore..... I am going back to a 3500... ... and I don't like them.

it's all metric  ah well...

besides the typical dodge problems, my truck is holding up pretty well.

Barry, you have seen my truck several times and know what I do with it. It was made in Mexico. You have anything on your old truck that some of us may need that you are willing to part with? Hope you have good luck with teh new one.

I could not travel with out ovhd puter, I need to know how hot it is out side. Oo.

edit" Mine's Mexican, Absoloutly great fit and finish, only problems have been mechanical, mostly DC using cheap ( under engineered ) parts.

Okie: I am leaving very few things on the truck. If it will come off, and it fits the new truck, it's being xfered. That is part of the reason for buying an'02. I'll have a slightly used EZ... ... ... ... . used about a month maybe. The 2002 have differant hook-ups. Also, I am going to have a set of stage 1 injectors. Think I will put stage ll's in the new truck. Also am going to change the ratio to 3:73s so I will have a set of 3:54s for sale.

Barry,

Are you going to swap out the entire axle to put in the 3. 73's... or just the gears.

If you swap out the axle (if it has disk brakes), I'd be interested in maybe negotiating a price on it. I want to get rid of my drum brakes and do a conversion to disk brakes.

Is the 27k you are paying for the 02 3500 is that with 4x4 if not how much more do you think a 4x4 would be i am gonna go in this week and look at some 02's and wanna know what prices i should be getting from the dealer. i am wanting an 02 3500 4x4 SLT with a five speed does anyone about what these trucks should be going for??? Oh yeah and how do you know if the truck was made in mexico of st louis

Cowboy,

I paid $29K for my 4x4 SLT dually special order, so $27-$29K is about right. Just need to find a good dealer to work with. You will find the assembly location on the sticker on the door panel.

I love my 02 dually - no problems here and it was built in Mexico. Quality seems to be quite good.

I wouldn't hesitate to get one. Just my . 02 worth

Barry, my 2001 3500 was made in Mexico. I haven't had many problems with it that no-one else has had: trac-bar, oil pan gasket. that's just about it.

The only issue I've had is with the paint, light in some areas. Check it out well. Otherwise, fit and finish was pretty good.

Mine was made in St. Louis. Only problem was a new track bar at 3x,000 miles and a new lift pump at 4x,000 miles. Other than that the truck looks and runs perfect.
