Ok, today I started getting a single chime after the motor was started, which it had never done before. Becuase of this, I've been trying to figure out what the problem was.

After a little research, I found that when I turn the key to the Start position to wait for the grid heater light to go off, I hear a buzzing for a second, then I hear a clicking. This happens about 80% of the time.

It sounds like electrical current. Buzzing when there's alot of current, then clicking as if a spark was jumping. With the buzzing and clicking, the MIL light stays on until I start the truck.

Once running, I get one chime after about a second after it's started.

The buzzing and clicking is coming from the driver's side of the motor, but because it's dark out, I can't tell exactly where along the motor it's coming from.

I do know there are no codes set as my OBD2 scanner doesn't show any.

Has anyone had this happen to them before or know what is causing this? This is driving me crazy!!

Thanks!!

buzzing - ticking

The buzzing is the lift pump doing its normal thing.

The tick-tick-tick-tick... ect, is the injectors when the keys is left all

tha way on and not started.

Dont know why ur hearing a chime, door open mabey??? heh

look at the tsb 08-004-03 for false chime on start up , had it done to mine but it did not take will try again. you may also get a chech gauge lite at times.

Mine does the same thing. i just assumed it was the injection system as most injection systems you can hear the pump and system. You might notice sometimes it does not do it as long or at all and I think it might have to do with the pressure already there. As for the chime I have no idea, did you change the way the auto lock works?

Clicking

My truck also has the clicking from the injectors when the key is in the run position. I assumed it was normal.

I belive if you read your manual. It states that if you disconnect the alarm for your seat belt while not being connected, it will still give you one chime after your motor starts, and your seat belt indicator light will still stay on. As far as the buzzing and clicking noise, this is normal. :)
