I have recently developed a buzzing noise sorta like a bicycle chain running on it's sprockets,,comming from either the transfer case or transmission,,,i took the rubber boots of the T-case lever to better hear when driving,,it does the sound from any speed,,just louder when at higher speeds,,in any gear,,any ideas,,i'm going to change the trans oil today to see,,i have a DTT torque converted and valve body set up,,the oil looked good when i checked,,,never changed the oil in the t-case,,,about 300,000 km. .

Signal73 - Thank you for that post. I've had the same buzz/rattle at highway speeds and heavy throttle (uphill, towing, etc. ). It's never made any sound that I would call "bad" and worry about, but it's annoying. The buzz has been my "indicator" that I'm working the truck hard. Hopefully that TSB fix will make it go away.

i did do that TSB years ago to stopp the small buzzing,,,also i did isolate the shifter mechanism with rubber spacers,,,this is a much louder buzzing than the usual noise these trucks are known for,,i checked the t-case fuid level and it was right,,and no leaks,,i'm gonna service the transmission on monday to see whats in there. .

If any one has had this issue i could sure use your input,,this is really anoying,,i have to leave for florida on oct 12 for the bike races so i'd dont want to have to worry about this.

Thanks all

worked for me. I moved out the tang a little further then the TSB recommended to make it go completely away.

i'll try bedding the tab out somemore,,

Monday. . i'll put it up on the lift,,and put it in drive and listen underneath for the noises,,,thats how we found a broken t-case end bearing last time,,

Don' forget an unexpected source for buzzing is a loose T-case shifter knob. Tighten by removing the knob 'button' and tighten the hex nut beneath—an easy fix!!

Well,,it's fixed. . it was the O. D. out put shaft bearing again,,2,nd time in 4 years. . back to nice and quiet again,,although i little expensive,,
