I have a 2001 3500 4x4 quadcab duelly that intermitently has a buzzing sound coming from the passenger side of the truck. I have checked both doors (opened and closed several times) but can't seem to figure out where it is coming from. Anyone have a similar problem and better yet figured out a solution?

Rgardner:

Do you still have the stock radio? I`ve seen some of these fail, and cause small amounts of buzz to come thru the speakers. It will do it on or off. My 96 was this way when I bought it, tho the radio worked fine. I replaced that sucka tho. .

Mebe you have a small animal living in your door... heh... or a nest of hornets

RGardner,

My door locks are buzzing now. Try taking a piece of tape and "securing" them to the door panel while you drive to see if that is your problem. I think that over time (and by locking/unlocking? the fit between the top of the locks and the door panel has loosened allowing a vibration. When I removed my muffler, it got worse.

I had the same buzz in my 12v and it turnded out to be a bad blower motor for the HV/AC. Still blew just fine but was a tad warn out.

I had a buzz in the driver side door of a Toyota truck once and it turned out to be the plastic moisture barrier behind the door panel. It would only make noise when the fan was on & the windows were rolled up, a 3 inch section of the barrier was not glued down properly. I glued it down and the noise went away.

If your buzz goes away when you open the window a little it might be the moisture barrier.

it is not the radio, buzzes when i am by myself, not the blower motor, no buggs in the door. i will try the door locks and i don't think it makes any difference whether the window is up or down. it almost seems like it is in the passenger seat.

RGardner,

I also have an intermittent buzzing that seems to come from the passenger seat area, and it's only when I'm in the truck. I found that mine was the actual seat belt buckle - the part you clip the belt into and has the release button. I found that when it starts its buzzing I just reach over and push it down so that it touches the seat and it quits. Seems to happen every time I had a passenger unbuckle and leave it angled upward. I haven't tried a permanent fix because the temporary one is so easy.
