I am guessing this question has been asked before but for some reason I cannot search for it. Anyhow I am thinking of getting a by-pass filter for my truck and am wondering from those of you what you think as far as which one to get. I was looking at amsoils and the fs2500. I would like to know how those who have them like them and if they seem to be doing any good.

I personally have the Amsoil and it does a good job but I think the TP and paper towel types probably filter better. The Amsoil is the easiest and least messy to change of any I know of and will run up to 60k miles, which was a big plus for me while I was running OTR transporting RVs (just quit end of June). Now that I'm home I might switch to a TP unit at some point. The TP types run closer to 2k miles and need changing to stay effective so that's why they are less practical if you put on a lot of miles. Since I have never run a TP myself all that I'm sharing here is coming from reading here on TDR and other places. Do some searches, there are piles of threads on this subject.

I have been using the Amsoil BMK11 with the BE100 filter on all my cust engines and my own the oil is always brown after a extended run as all the oil in the system passes thru every 20 min.

The most popular here on TDR is one made by Frantz which can be bought here: Frantz Filters Manufactured by We Filter It! Inc - Oil, Diesel and Gas Filters There is also the Motor Guard units, which can be bought here: Ralph Wood brings you his Motor Guard bypass lube oil filter, submicronic bypass lube and fuel filters, aka paper towel filters, also Gulf Coast bypass filter - courtesy of Ralph P. Wood. I personally like the way the motor guard units are built better then the Frantz although I have not owned either one so I'm only going by what I see and read. Then you have ones such as Golf Coast that use paper towels. I'm sure there are others too but those are the main ones I'm thinking of right now. Do some searches here and on Google for these names and you will find lots of info.

I use a baldwin set up with a fleetguard 778 filter. The whole set up cost me about $ 150, hoses, filter and quick disconnect. Come out of the top of the oil filter bracket and enpty into the filler tube.

NAPA Wix

I found a site for a home made by-pass made with a WIX filter head and a Baldwin filter that goes down to 3 microns. Hooked up just like the above post. All parts required came in at around $60. Works good.
