After this weekend I'll have 12,000 miles (11,000 towing 12,000lbs) on the '06 -- I think that's probably enough miles to switch to synthetic? Yep; truck is 2 months old with 12,000 miles (sob)... definitely need to do stuff to keep it alive for MANY miles.



I plan on doing the bypass filter setup (not replacing the stock; just adding bypass) so that eabp90 setup you have there looks good. Although I'll pull the plug in the front of the block and return the oil directly into the pan; or maybe "T" the turbo drain back to return direct into the pan if there's room.



What parts are needed? I'm becoming an Amsoil dealer and trying to sort out what parts are needed for one of these.
 
If you search for bypass, and Gary's 50+ page thread on it... I think you will find that "t"ing into the return from the turbo isn't thought to be such a good idea... you take a chance of flooding the turbo with oil... the turbo won't be able to drain the oil fast enough and could potentially cause issues.



I like returning to the filler cap... you can see/check the flow rate... plus it was a very simple install. According to Amsoil, the bypass filters are not bypassed internally like a fullflow filter, so if they plug off, they simply don't flow any oil.



Also, the actual filter Amsoil recommends is the "eABP-100", the "eABP-90" is too small... I just got a couple in the auction from ebay, so I ran them.

The "T" would be into the return line down by the pan; not into the turbo feed line -- so flooding the turbo isn't possible unless the truck is wheels up and then there's bigger problems. :{

The concern stems around the installation as you describe... FWIW. most open the second return port, install a modified turbo drain inlet, and return through that IIRC. I think it was pretty much determined using the return line from the turbo was a bad idea...

If you are dead set about installing the return oil directly back to the pan, this is a good way to do it, and the fitting comes with the Amsoil by-pass kit, which is a BMK-11. The filter element you need is a EaBP-100.

Yeah; that looks good. Although tapping the pan makes me a little nervous. Just to the left of that photo is a plug that feeds straight into the pan from the block; easy to pull out and no drilling. It's the one we use for twin turbo setup's 2nd turbo return line.

NO it does not come with the BMK-11 kit. The fitting that goes in the pan comes with the kit, but the fitting for the oiil cap is an option. The part number for the "swivel" fitting is BP-89, and costs $8. 50 US.
