I am looking to install the dual remote by-pass filter system from Amsoil on my '98. 5... ... Any suggestions on where to mount it under this hood?????? I haven't purchased it yet, and this is the reason, can't locate a easy accessible area... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .
fest3er, thanks for the info... do you have the new measurements you spoke about for this bracket??? also are these filters in addition to the stock oil filter or are they replacing the stock one????

After two years and several computer reloads with the drawings moving several times, I located the original drawings (done in xfig on Linux, BTW) and included them in the web page. The links to thed drawings are near the bottom. They are tiny PDF files.
I have nothing against under the hood, but it is awfully crowded in there! I mounted mine horzontally behind the front frame crossmember and built a skid plate of 1/8 inch steel to protect it.
I use one of "CPFF"'s custom mounts and hose kits with his billet adpator. This is the BEST way to mount the Amsoil kit. A super heavy duty bracket that goes around the passenger side battery, braided stainless lines custom cut and crimped for your truck and an beautiful billet swivel adpator instead of the cheap cast metal adaptor they give you. Check him out
I mounted mine on the pass. side battery. However, I had almost no oil pressure when idling. At speed it was well under 40psi. I checked and checked that I have the hoses connected right. Removed the dual-bypass system and pressure is back where it ought to be. Any suggestion or recommendations?
It sounds like maybe the bypass valve is sticking or the filters are mounted backwards so that the pressure relief valve is not working. Oil should go to the bypass filter first and when the pressure rises too high because of the filter restriction the bypass valve should open and dump the oil through the full flow filter and on to the engine. Call Amsoil tech support they are real good about helping out.
I welded a bracket behind the passenger side of the front bumber. The filters are tucked inside the frame enough to protect them and access for filter change and oil sampling is easy. I don't know about you, but I don't need anymore junk under the hood. I did need 90 degree fittings for proper hose routing and it came out super clean. If you get the kit, consider the cpff billeted adapter to replace the one provided in the kit.
