Need to get a truck to Reno, after IRP

Crosswind landings

Well, folks I will be leaving for good in a few weeks. My subscription runs out and I no longer own my 05 CTD.

I got rid of it because I could not stand the color of it anymore, and it was wrecked 3 times with in a year. Yes, it was red. I only had 8,120 miles on it, and was getting around 11 to 12 mpg in the city and that was babying it. I never did any highway driving with it. I really could not afford another diesel, so I opted for a Hemi. I own my own rig and that is coasting me. The payment, fuel and all the other good stuff. I got a 06 quad cab short wb. Color gray. I do miss the Cummins, but I don't miss having to deal with all the little quarks. Like the getting gauges, fuel psi, the HPCR pumps and what mod do I want. With the Hemi I getting 10 to 11 mpg in the city.

I had the red truck 4 months and hit a deer, then about 5 week ago it got rerended siting out in front of my house. It was in the body shop for 3 weeks. I got it back on a Thursday night, and took it to the dealer the next day to see what I could get for a trade in. I took a truck out for a test drive and took it over night. The next day I went back to the dealer and told them the problems with the truck I had test drove, so I test drove another one, and sighed the papers on it. Then when I was getting ready to take my stuff out of my red truck I had seen where the dealer had wrecked it. They had side swiped a pole and caved the whole side of the bed in, not more than 36 hours after I got it from the body shop. It was a target truck.

I just have to get use to this Hemi.

Well, thank you for all the info you have given me over the past few years. Take care. I will have another CTD with in a few years. I just have to get my rig paid off first.

Happy trails, take care, godspeed, have a good one..... and all that. :D

Find an older rig to monkey with and keep the Hemi for the reliable daily driver. Best of both worlds.

See ya!

WOW! That's terrible mileage for a CTD. Was your truck an auto?

Anyway, I wish you the best with your new one.

Yes, it was auto.

The couple time I did have it on the highway it would get around 17 mpg.

Wow 10 mpg city in that hemi is worse than i thought they got. And 10-12mpg with the cummins would be enough to make me dump it to. I ended up with the cummins only because my gasser fords were so pee poor on fuel. My milage almost doubled the day i dumped the gas 96 f-350(9mpg ford to 16. 5-17mpg cummins around town) . Hope to see ya back with a diesel some day.

O yeah I will be back in a Cummins in the future. I just could not stand the color red any more and the truck being wrecked 3 times in a year was enough. I just did not want to cut my self short on $ with the new truck. I paying off my tractor trailer, and some other bills at the time, and also taking care of my gran mother. IM paying for her medications and health benefits. So the money I saved is being well spent right now.

There is always the future for another Cummins.
