wow I wouldn't trade mine off for a gasser any day haven't had any troubles with mine in over 46,000 miles did you drive it like ya Stoled it or what ? thats how I drive mine

Enjoy your Power Wagon. They are nice trucks. If you have to get a gasser truck, you can't beat a Hemi. Almost did it myself except this truck is 2 years old now, paid for, and 100% trouble free. But it's overkill for what I use it for.

My grandson had a 4wd Dodge hemi pickup. The only way it demonstated any "power" was in the name.

A short stroke V8 is simply a poor choice for a heavy truck, particularly one with big tires.

To each his own.

I wonder what they will do for their next engine since this 6. 7 has earned the reputation of the International 6. 0
Not a correct statement, love mine and many others love theirs as well. The issues are no worse than any other DPF engine in a light duty application truck. The negative is the poor MPG these trucks get. You must work them hard, and if you don't have a need for a strong engine then go back to a gasser. Grocery getting and taking your kids to school will plug the DPF. Like any other tool, if you don't use it as it was intended for, there will be complications.

I've just got one & one thing to say. Sorry you have had tooo many problems with your 6. 7L. .

AND

I purchased my 6. 7L (an early model) simply for the six speed 68rfe. My wife and I were determined that this truck was going to work for us. I have always said it was my retirement truck. I have owned five Dodges'. We made a vow to hold off on mods that would hurt the warranty an to do our research on every part we added. The MP8 was a joke for towing and removed it. Every other mod has been for handling, towing safely & to make the 6. 7L breath better. I have only had few problems and held off having the Dodge diesel teck to really dig into it. Now after two years I am seeing a 50% increase in fuel mileage and it runs as strong as any Dodge or Ford I have owned. I have a clean burning, good running, good looking retirement truck I am proud of. My signature tells the story.

The photos below show it sitting in my driveway today loaded to the gills with firewood, fishing tackle and gear and grossing over 26k headed for my favorite spot in Georgia.

Your truck must not be so hot if you're on your "2nd motor". :-laf These 6. 7L's have a long way to go before even remotely being in the same boat as a 6. 0L.

96, 3500, cpl 1551 with 190 hp 475 torque. JRE no. 8 plate, boost elbow, Goerend triple lock . 3rd transmission and 2nd motor . :-laf

I thought our trucks had engines ? :-laf

Love my 6. 7L more and more each day; MFenza, sorry you got either a) a bad 6. 7L or b) buffoons employed at your local dealership.

I would say that it is a undeserved reputation, as most of you say, but they have it among the truck drivers where I go. Just like they have a reputation for a lemon in a automatic transmission deserved or not.

I fine it very interesting that most, not all but most of the negative discussion on the 6. 7L Cummins comes from non users of the 6. 7L Cummins engine.

I use mine as a daily driver when ever we go anywhere I drive my truck. My wifes SUV is too small for me. She drives a Ford Escape and I do not feel very comfortable in her SUV. Therefore were every we go the Mega Cab is driven. I average 200 miles a week driving this truck at city speeds 30 to 45 MPH and I do get this out on the highway once a week. We do pull a 5er at least twice a month for camping and one long trip a summer. The truck now has 17. 5K on the OD and my fuel mileage is 13 MPG. This is tracked at every fill-up with a running fuel avg of 12. 8 MPG. This includes pulling the 5er during the summer camping trips and driving in the winter.

I feel that this is the best truck I have own and would buy another one when this wears out. I have only had two CEL's that need to be taken care of by the dealer.

I have had no issues with the engine, only the emission controls which I would expect from new technology that is being applied to the diesel engine. I feel as time goes by and the engineers figure out how to improve the emission controls the fuel mileage will improve and the emission problems will go away. This is very similar to what went on in the 70's with the gas engines. Most of you may not or choose not to remember these issues but they went away and the mileage has improved along with trouble free gas engines.

Just my $0. 02

You must be kidding us. A bunch of drivers in a truck stop? They are the same guys that will still tell you that Ferd owns Cummins. Not exactly a source of information I would use for buying recommendations.

The thing that I find interesting is 99% of owners of new Dodge Rams with ISB6. 7 engines like them, are completely satisfied with them. The folks who don't own them are the guys who criticise them and say they wouldn't want one.

I'm very pleased with mine. At 46,000 miles it has been completely troublefree. It did set a check engine light several months ago but when I hooked up my fifth wheel to travel 300 miles to the dealer I buy from the CEL disappeared and has never returned.

I use my quad cab 3500 6. 7L 4x4 long bed as a daily driver also (8 miles total per day) and weekend hauler (nearly 1000 miles) with no issues at all and very happy.

I would not trade it for anything ! Had couple small issues handled under warranty and few minutes. 11,000 miles later doing 16 MPG overall and very happy. Even got 4 people and 4 dogs into the cab for a 3 hour trip :)

MFenza, I am truly sorry that your Cummins Dodge didn't work out for you. I know what it is like to own a vehicle that doesn't live up to your expectations. Our 2005 Silverado has been the biggest pile of trash I have ever owned. But, unlike you, I have kept it beyond the point of getting a reasonable value out of it. So I will be hanging on to it until it dies. Best of luck with your Powerwagon. They are very nice trucks.

To the rest of us here, many of you were around like I was when each of the new generation of our trucks were introduced. I was so excited when I purchased my '92, only to disappointed when I started having transmission and steering issues. Then I was excited when I traded that truck on my '01 only to be let down by the VP and lift pump problems, not to mention the possibilities the 53 block had in store for us. So then we traded that one on our current 3rd gen only to be faced with the ball joint and injector problems that have been happening to others. But, what has been great for us as a group is, we have worked together to solve almost every issue that has come up with every one of these trucks. All it take is time guys.

The 6. 7L will end up being the same. As a group, we are working through the growing pains. Please correct me if I am wrong, but none of our trucks since 1989 have been perfect out of the box. It has taken our effort as a collective group to determine what we need to do to make these things as reliable as they can be and as capabable as we expect.

With all due respect, that is one of the silliest statements I've read on here in quite a while. You've got to go a long ways to compete with Navijunk/Intrashnational in the throw-away engine race. The 6. 7 has had some eco-nazi imposed emissions issues, but take a reality break, friend!

I drive my 6. 7 like all of my previous 5. 9's, and have had no trouble in 21000 miles. I did have a fuel diluton issue, but AY reflash helped bring that under control. I liked my 2nd gens much better than my 07 5. 9 with the G56 AD 6speed trans with the 3. 73 axle, the gearing made it seem a little "doggy" until you got to 4th gear. I really like the 6. 7 with the 68RFE and e brake, making it much easier to tow the fiver, no clutch chatter if I have back up an incline. If 07 5. 9 was'nt such a dog, I would have kept it.

Guys, it's not surprizing that some people just prefer to go back to a gasser. I nearly did the same thing myself. Very few of us really need a diesel. They have alot less maintenance and cost less to drive as daily transportation. No VP'S or DPS, no lift pumps, just gas and go. One of my friends has a 6. 7. He likes the truck, but has had all the common problems associated with them. My brother-in-law runs his own shop. People used to come in complaining about their 7. 3's having injector problems, Now those same people want their 7. 3's back after buying a 6. 0. As for myself, I'll keep driving my 2000 and enjoying it. If I could afford it I would probly buy a 6. 7. It will all get worked out.

I've had mine for 2 years and almost 20,000 miles and not a lick of trouble. Gets 17mpg and keeps running better and better every day.

99% of 6. 7s and 6. 0 Powerstrokes are on the road with no problems. These "reputations" are mostly hot air.

Sorry that the OP got a lemon. Better luck with the next truck.

I'll have mine for a long time unless diesel goes back up over 5 bucks a gallon. Then I'll get an old motorhome for the occaisional camping trip and a hybrid for daily driving.

I've been very happy with my '08. I'm over 8,000 miles since Novmember, and I've not had a CEL yet, nor any issues with the way it runs. I LOVE the 6 speed automatic, it seems to find the right gear at the right time, and if I know I need to downshift, I just toggle the rocker on the shift lever and it goes down or up like it should.

I drive it to work most days, usually 70 mph in the morning since it's light traffic at that time, and stop and go most of the way home.

I've not yet towed with it.

What's everyone seeing for mileage? Last time I was at the dealer, they seemed stunned that I was averaging 17 mpg (that's hand calculated, I don't trust the console). It's a 4wd, Quad Cab.
