News to me...

I live in Dodge country but there is getting to be more and more Duramax's. I knew I would mix it up with one sooner or later.

Going out of Greybull towards Cody I had a new Chevy on my tail. I put my blinkers on to go over the hill to Lovell. So did he. I figured he was going to show my Dodge some disrespect and I wasn't going to put up with it. The hill is a mile and a quarter long and a passing lane begins right at the Turn off.

We made the turn and he swung right into the passing lane. When he did I mashed it. He got almost to my tail gate, hung there a second or two and then I started to pull him. They do make some smoke. By the time I hit 90 I had him by at least 8 or 10 lengths and then I thought he left off 0ff it because I crested the hill at 110 and he was at least 40 lengths back. He must have hit his limiter.

I slowed down, set the cruise at 65 and let him go by. There it was right on the side Duramax!!

We had lunch with Kevin Whitmore and his wife a week or so ago and he showed my wife and me a set of testicles hanging off his tow hitch. After we let the chevy go by my wife said "We have to get a set of those big balls and hang them on the back of this truck" Thats my woman.

Was I baiting him by driving 60 coming out of Greybull? Yes.

Atta Boy Jim

Show them Dura-mini's who's boss, I am like Tim and even after we had lunch and all I can't see you as an agressive driver but WAY TO GO , Jim you got a heck of a woman if she wants trucknutz... ... ... ... ... ... . heheheheheh

If my memory serves me correct the Truck nuts can be found at www.trucknutz.com if that aint it than I am once again stumped.

Cheers, Kevin

:D Hey you guys, I started hot rodding in 1951 with this same women beside me. Had an Olds 88 that would cream them new overhead fords in 1954. Got a new 440 Dodge RT in '67 that started out at 16 sec in the quarter. I got it down so I could drive it in off the street and run in the high 12's. Watched them Harley Sportsters till I couldn't stand it, stripped the wind shield and saddle bags off my HD 74 and had at em. With some fancy clutch slipping I could cream them off the line but they got me about the eighth mile. But my buddys new corvette couldn't get the 74 in the eighth.

The best one of all. I spotted a loud mouth with a 390 ford mustang 14 car lengths and beat him in the quarter with the RT for $10.

Quarter mile Street Racing with the Dodge RT, beat a 396 Chevelle, a 442 Olds, and then came the Hemi. I crawled under the Hemi to size him up and saw drop tubes on his exhaust, but the caps were welded on. I couldn't understand this, but I said I would race him. So we uncapped the Hooker headers, put the pinion snubber and sliks on the RT and beat him by 15 car lengths.

Boy its hard to get it out of your system ain't it?

Just don't jump on a Duramax from the gitgo; they are really quick out of the hole and up tp 97 mph where they defuel.

My nephew has Dually with K&N, 4" exhaust, and a fueling box; pretty impressive. We ran a short distance last week, i believe he was about to pass me at 80 mph, missed his opportunity, and I pulled away on top end.

I should of known Whitmore would have them balls hanging on his truck:D I was just trying to think of that site and you beat me to it Kevin. I see where your minds(?) been hanging:eek:

Moved?

Hot dam, They moved this away from the 24 Valve forum.

I thought my truck was a 24 valve, and here instead it is only a General Diesel.

I am going to hang the Red Testicles on it any way. Maybe then it will think it is at least a One Star General. Pick, Pick, Pick!!

dura junk

well jim 2 yrs ago i was on vacation up in your state of wyoming first i must say its a very pretty state. i loved it the whole time i was thier. i know one thing it is not flat. anyway when i was coming into the tetons i had to go up shoeshoni pass i had a 30ft 11,000 pound fiver on the rear. if i remember right that pass is like 7% up. i had a furd behind me and two durajunks in front of me, with maybe, if they were lucky they had around 7000 pounds on them and i am giving them some wieght. anyway half way up the pass they had to pull over and let me through cause they was holding up traffic and i was running 45mph. they were struggling to keep thier rpms up it look to me. i know when we was at tne bottom starting to climb they were doing great but not even a 1/4 into and they started falling off. :D :p :D

at that time my rig did not have one single mod done to it.

this time for vac i ma going to the oregon coast and i well see how she does now. Oo.

also were can i find a pair of them ram nuts

RDanley, Hello to you up on Planet Bullsh%t. When does the next flight leave heading for reality? I will forward the cash for the ticket please board promptly. When you arrive on earth read at least the tests Pickup Truck.com did about towing up grades with all 3 brands and see if your story makes any sense or has any truth to it.

Now before you guys start with the bashing and trolling at least give this some thought

A cummins towing 11,000lbs up a hill out running a stock GM or even a Ford, 01 model only towing 7,000lbs.

bull not

hey jd i am not trying to bull ya around or pull ya leg, it happened just like i said it did. now that aint saying that the chevys were not having engine trouble or something like that but two of them having trouble at the same time, now i could not swallow that. also jd the ford had atleast the same or maybe a bit more wieght than me but not much and he was right thier with me, we went up the pass togeather and came down togeather now as for the chevys i just dont know what to tell ya.

JD- Hello to you on the moon of "planet BS". Just for the record, and you really ought to know record about the brand which you so staunchly defend, the '03 D-maxes have been having BIG problems with their new computers. Went from analog to digital and it's not uncommon for an '02 D-M to blow the mirrors off of an '03. Seems the computer won't let the throttle rheostat (fly by wire) give a 100% signal output. I'm not blowing smoke- my buddy almost lemmon lawed his '03, even though an identical '03 on the lot did the same thing. GM engineer (good support structure) fixed him up and he's now happy, but THERE IS A PROBLEM! Sorry about the come-back. I just used your words.

rdanley, I was just busting your balls a bit with my last post. All in good fun.

Now that does not make me believe that your truck in stock trim would out pull an 01 GM D-Max up a 7% grade towing less of a trailer. Every test done shows the GM out pulling the Dodge loaded or not.

Maybe the guy let you pass as he was only driving 45 mph and you were traveling faster.

Greg, Read the posts again and you will see we were talking about the 01's. Give more detail on the analog to digital change over.

I know the GM is not the truck of all trucks, for some it is, but I know they all have their own issues from time to time.

well jd i am sure you have taken a test before and done real well taking the test. (passed with flying colors) but when it came time to put the know how to the test in the real world, didnt do so well. hell i know i have. :D :p :D

all in good fun

JD- I wish I could tell you more about the GM computer up-grade. I can't. Craig- with the D-max, is on another crew and I only see him three times in a five week cycle. His symptoms were: towing a 5K trailer up a hill, the truck would not down shift and give full throttle. A blue oval guy suggested that he try the "accel" button while on cruise control. Thing downshifted and raced up the hill, and that's how he narrowed it down to the throttle rheostat. Problem didn't stop there though, GM tested the r-stat and was w/i specs. That's about the time GM assigned Craig to a trouble-shooting engineer (they really exist!). This... KID... dug into the throttle pedal and r-stat, fixing the problem. Craig asked if that was the fix for ALL the d-max, and the reply was "NO, that's the fix for YOUR d-max!" Like I said, the dealer hooked Craig's trailer up to a different '03 with the same results Craig was suffering from. Almost seems like the "problem" isn't going to be recalled or fixed unless people are running up against it, and then on a one by one case. Hope this sheds some light.

Greg
