Bypass 115mph Electronic Speed Limit INFO

Does anyone know what it takes to bypass the electronic speed limit of 115 mph?

Best Response!

Check out Todd T

"Its easier and CHEAPER than that guys, on the firewall above the valve cover is a connector. (actually 2) one of them has a red wire with a orange stripe. cut that wire and feed both halfs into the cab. install a toggle switch on them in a convenient location and you got it. when you want to go faster than the truck will allow, just reach down and turn off the switch (open the wire) once you slow back down turn it back on so you dont loose your govenor citcuit on take offs. "

He says further that if you leave the wire cut, any time the truck is moving without adding gas your engine will shut off. So if you like idle around you will need this wire connected. A remote switch is the way. Thanks Todd T "YOUR THE MAN!"

Tell the PCM the truck ain't goin' so fast. :)

Specifically, install an Abbott or other speedo correction device and tell it you have tires with twice the circumference (or 1/2 the revs/mile). This will drop your registered speed to 1/2 of actual. Should allow you to get up to 230 MPH. Note that it will *also* cut in half the mileage added to your odo!

By using a ratio of 0. 5, it is easier to compute the actual velocity whilst driving at such a high rate of fuel consumption.

:D Just curious - how fast do you want to go. Are we looking at just haulin - butt from here to there way out in Montanna or is this for the local kid in the droped and choped Honda that you just want to make nervious on the turn-pike. :D :D The other thing to consider is the rubber factor. How many time can we bounce with a blow out at velocity above the rated crawl speed of those good ol mud crawlers or off roader that we have for shoes. :p Not that we would ever let these things worry us! But you know the wife, they want to make sure the life insurance is paid up and that they got a potential all spoted out just in case. :( This is all just food for thought and rampid speculation on my part. Though it would be interesting to see just how fast a Cummins can propel a bread box down the old road. :D :D :D Good luck.

Morepower,

I didn't think our trucks had a governor. I thought we just ran out of RPM's. I then looked at your sig and saw you had an overdrive unit so RPM's must not be an issue. You will have to do something with the ECM to eliminate the governor( I think). I had to put in a new chip for my 93 chevy.

I put my switch inside the ashtray on the roof of it. I just reach in and turn it on/off. plus the lights at night, light up the inside of the ashtray.

of course I dont smoke, but my truck does :D :D

its is a vehicle speed sensor signal from the PCM to the ECM (sinewav). you dont want to just cut it and leave it open on the 01's, it is part of the govenor circuit and the truck, you will notice, will stall if you dump the clutch without giving it fuel, on take offs.

if you dont mind it doing that, then you can leave it cut.

it bugged me because i usually back out of my garage and when i turn around to head out the driveway I put it in first and dump the clutch, and let it idle out to the road. the first time i did this with the wire cut it killed it. and at every stop sign a had to give it more gas than usual to get going. so I wired in a switch.

ok todd t. I was wondering if you could do this to a 99? or what could i do? Im just thinking that if its that easy, like your switch. I should just do it and go faster:D
