Bypass filter... Do they make noise?

I am contemplating installing a bypass filter for my 06 CTD. In speaking with fellow CTD owners, they have spoke of the filter system making a “hissing” noise, most likely due to forcing oil through the small oil lines.



For those who have installed the bypass oil filter system, are you experiencing this?



Please also include what type of system you are running, I am looking at the Amsoil single filter set up… Thanks in advance for your input!!!

If you install a "Single" by-pass, such as the Amsoil BMK-11, you will not hear any noises at all. If you use the "Duel-Remote" (BMK-15) you could possibly hear noises, as the is a huge volume of oil passing thru the 1/2" lines.

The BMK-11 (single) inut only has 1/4" lines, and there is very little flow of oil passing thru them.

Told not to put the bypass on the newer Dodge.

A friend of mine is an Amsoil dealer and he told me the Amsoil recommends that you do not put them on. I had a bypass on my Ford F250 PSD. Loved it. wanted to put them on this truck and he said no



It has something to do with the sensor. It reads that your oil pressure is low and the lite comes on... ... ..... That is what he says any way.

Amsoil recommendation is NOT to INSTALL the DUEL-Remote (BMK-15) on any Dodge/Cummins after the 2004 model due to the sensitivity of the oil pressure sensing device as you state. HOwever, Amsoil does recommend the BMK-11 (single-Remote By-Pass) be used on these applications.



So the bottom line is you can use a By-Pass system on these trucks.

Same here... mine is even mounted back on the frame by the rear tire... absolutely silent...



I got mine from eBay... no idea of age...



I remember reading that the Amsoil filters that had noise are the bypass filters that remove the OEM filter and relocate it... these have both full flow and bypass in one unit... they are said to "groan"??

Well that figures! I had the BMK-15 installed on my 04Hemi. When I traded it in for my 06 diesel took it off so that I could put it on the new truck. So it looks like I have a pretty fancy paperweight setting in my garage now :{ Maybe I could put it on my riding lawnmower

You could still use it, but you may or maynot get some erronius oil pressure readings. You will need to get the adapter for the Cummins engine(BP-176) which is $17. 60. If you decide to use it, remember you may get have this happen. Amsoil did some testing on these and found the readings were just false, as the actual oil pressure was really not affected that much, but they felt inorder to keep people from worrying about it, they would NOT RECOMMEND it.

I have been starting to look into bypass filter setups. How much is not that much? And did the pressure increase or decrease? I would assume deacrease slightly.
