I wanted to get the remote mount oil filter set-up for my 04. Amsoil's site says they don't recommend the dual remote mount filter for '04 and newer trucks. All they recommend is the BMK-11 which keeps the stock filter location and adds the bypass filter up top. If I still have to get under the truck to replace the other filter, isn't is just as good, and cheaper, for me to just use one of the amsoil 25k mile filters and change the oil once a year?

That's a personal choice.

From what I have read, the Amsoil fullflow filter is actually really good. Not as good as a dedicated bypass filter, but better than any typical off-the-shelf filter. There is a pretty good discussion of the EaO over at Bob is the oil guy in the oil filter section...

I installed the Amsoil BMK-11 filter on my truck. I made a bracket and mounted it on the firewall, nice and accessable, easy to change. You should check out the discussion over at Bob is the oil guy, has some good information. I think that the type of filter you install is a personal choice, lots of them to choose from, all are good for your purpose. I chose the Amsoil because of the ease of install and maintenance. You can also mount the filter anywhere that is comfortable to you.

I installed the same setup on my truck and I decided to go with the amsoil bypass filter and use the standard factory filter from Dodge so I don't void the warantee. Of coarse it all depends on the dealer you go to, but why take any chances. :)

I installed the FS2500 system about 250 miles ago. I can allready tell a BIG difference in the oil color. It went from coal black to being able to see through it. So far I am very pleased with it. Nice people to deal with also.

Magnusson-Moss Act makes it illegal to void a warranty on the basis of not using OEM's parts, lubes, filters, etc. There are better filters, etc. than OEM, and you can get them reasonbly priced. At least go to a Cummins shop and get their filters, which I've heard are cheaper than Dodge sells for.

That's apparently done to prevent the sensitive (on 3Gs) oil pressure sensor from getting a low reading. What I read was it wasn't an issue in terms of mechanics (i. e. it wasn't going to cause a loss of oil to the system) but the new sensors are very sensitive to oil pressure changes. Or something like that. #@$%! I'm not taking any chances, so I ordered the BMK-11 kit and the 3G accessories to run it out of the main filter mount and the billet alum. oil cap.

When I researched the Amsoil remote bypasses, I believe I remember reading in the TDR archives that they also hummed/resonated? And that was also a reason they weren't recommended?? Someone with some experience with one might know more... that was so long ago, I don't want to give the wrong info...

Dunno, but that may have been the connection to the oil pressure sensor being sensitive. Ordered my BMK-11 today. Had a dual bypass on my 99 gasser. Put it under the back seat (below cab). Man that rocked for changing, but it was dirty down there.

Just so I'm reading this right..... you are saying that the oil was black on the dipstick, then you installed the FS2500 and it cleaned the oil up to where you could then see through it on the dipstick?

had a dual remote amsoil setup that was mounted on the frame under the passengers side. one of the problems was the humming and the other was the lack of pressure on startup. even though the oil level was correct, it took a few seconds to get the pressure to record which scared me and hince i removed it. I now have a bk-11 ordered with all the parts, and plan to install soon. I believe with all of the choices out there, amsoil's setup on this is the best.

I have an oilguard unit installed on my truck and don't have any problems with the oil pressure. I do have some buzzing but my oil is clean as new with almost 3000 miles.
