Well, now that the transmission thread seems to be winding down a bit, how bout an antenna war? Need some new topics to get our blood pressures up. I figure antenna's are inexpensive enough where the majority could buy one and put in their . 02 worth.

Just as a side note, a co-worker of mine happened to be browsing this site at lunch, and she commented that if computers had been around when mouse-traps were first invented, similar threads (such as the transmission one) probably would have come up. Look at mouse traps now... . not much to talk about.

I use a steel whip on top of a Larsen coil. Whip is something like 40 - 46" long if I remember correctly when I installed it. Had help from a buddy and fellow TDR member who is big into ham radio and as part of his job at the logging company where he works, he handles all their truck radios. We hooked the radio and antenna up to his SWR meter and fine tuned the antenna for the optimal length.

YC antenna

I bet some of you guys that have been into CB's for awaile might remember the Yellow Canoe or YC antennas, they looked like a pizza cutter.

Yeah, well my K-40 is better because your Firesticks use too much line press... uhhhh, watts!! Yeah, that's it! Watts!!:p :-{}

Seriously....

Wilson 5000 Mag mount. I put these on everything I have. My Dodge with a Galaxy 99v will talk for more than 25 miles! (in Northwestern Washington that's a lot!)

Sorry Shovelhead, a 3' antenna (with an orange flag on the top) isn't near high enough. My smoke cloud is MUCH higher than that! That IS what this thread is all about isn't it?:confused:

ok here we go. .

fire stick, cool... love the 102 SS whip. .

fender mounts bite

I'll run for cover now.
